Getting a negative drug test for Percodan while taking medication???

by govicki, Aug 21, 2007 03:10AM
I am just baffled! My new family doctor has  just put me on four Percodan a day for some chronic pain issues that won't cooperate. In my pain contract I accept the terms in which I can be drug tested at any time. My doctor asked for a drug test two weeks ago. I was honest with him and told him I had taken a couple oxicontin the day before. He was ok with this beings I was honest and told him upfront. Well, to my surprise the test came back negative for all medications. He was shocked and had me repeat the test...again it was negative! He gave me two weeks supply and I go in this Wednesday for another test, which I am certain it will show negative adn he already informed me he would fire me as a patient. I picked up a few tests on Ebay, today it was negative, even though I had  taken five today. I am just at a loss as to where to go from here. I want to stay with this doctor.
Help me! All advice is totally appreciated.

My X ran the Toxicology at the #1 Toxicology lab in the mid west at St. Joesph Mercy hospital of Ann Arbor.........

if you test was really tested and you had drugs in your system you would of been positive........
They don't test all that come in a company may say test 60% unless we specificly give you a name to do..........

masking does not work anymore either with the technology of todays testing equipment......
If you want to know for sure go to CVS and buy a $10 opiate test kit and test yourself........

I would bring in the supply and take them right in front of him and then ask for a test the next day.  That is just sooo hard to believe, but anythings possible.

Just out of curiosity.  Why would a doc. drug test a patient.  He must suspect something.  or is that standard procedure.  I've not heard of that, nor has it ever happen to me.

When I went to a pain clinic they drug tested me at least twice a year. They were mostly testing for street drugs.

They test to make sure you are taking your meds and not selling them.. Most pain clinics or pain management docs do drug urine screens or pill counts randomly..

wow i am in pain management and they have never done that with me, and I have never signed a contract like I've heard others talking about.....

My new PM is the same way. Had to take my picture, drug test, blood test
EKG and all that BS. I felt like I was in prison. I know it's standard procedure,
but in all of 5 years at another PM Dr.,I never had to do any of that. Kind of
traumatized me.LOL. I'm just wondering if those drugs could have passed
out of your system in that short of time? Anything is possible, right?

this totally SOP, every PM Dr. I have ever got to to has done the same thing
