Getting ready

I'll try to make this short...my first oxy was Jan 2013. From January through July of that year I took 60 mg everday...sometimes more. Then in July I had had enough and was able to quit cold turkey. Then in October of 2013 I took some Norcos and then some Oxys and I was hooked again. Since then I take anywhere from 60-240mg/day. There have been a couple days here and there where I haven't taken anything but those days have been few and far between. But I'm sick of it having control over every aspect of my life and putting my families finances in ruin. My plan is to wean over the next three days..down to 60 mg/day and then go cold turkey on Monday. It won't be a long wean but I figure it's something and may help a little. I won't be able to take off work next week but I'm still going to do it and I'm hoping posting here will help me stay on track. Any suggestions or support is appreciated.

! I am on 4 1/2 days and the vitamins made an INSANELY HUGE DIFFERENCE.....I avoided any of the Benzos, Xanax or anything like that. Went to work al 4 days, it was rough but, kept my mind of it and with the potassium and multi vitamin it was possible. I used Imodium the first 2 days then switched to gas x to soothe my stomach...get up and move around, it really really helps. At night use a heating pad on your legs for the rls plus the vitamins. I used Nyquil ZZZ to sleep, worked all but the 2nd night...also, eat! Eat as much as your body will let you...good luck! Stay positive! I am happy to be done with the pills....so happy.

Hi again.....
just wanted to say "me too".  I believe my relapse was due to 1). My not understanding the need for aftercare.  & 2). Me not understanding sobriety is not just getting the meds out of my system, but needing to let my body heal "long term", n changing behavioral issues.   Sounds like u got this.  Keep focused on "being free".   Great decision my friend.

I appreciate the support and suggestions. I have looked up Thomas' recipe and I'm planning to pick up the rest of the needed supplies tomorrow. I used Kratom the first time around (in capsule form).  It really seemed to help and it was easy for me to leave it alone when I didn't feel like I needed it anymore. I think what I was missing the first time around was an after care plan so I'm looking in to different options to decide what will work best for me. Part of my plan is spending time on here,  reading other success stories and sharing my challenges and successes. Even though I know it's going to suck, I'm looking forward to being free.

Get some Imodium A/D ... you will definitely need it especially if you have to work.  I had to use 4 tablets twice daily.  Hydrate as much as you can.  Tell everyone you are coming down with the flu....many of the symptoms are similar so it is a viable excuse.  You've already gotten other great suggestions (banana's, B-12 and Vit. C).  Invest in some good epsom salts for when you get home.  Really hot baths with the salts is going to be something you want to do....it will help with any aches and leg cramping.

If you have any muscle relaxers at hand you can use those when you are home...that will help with the RLS and hopefully relax you enough to get a little sleep.

Oh yes, I took Melatonin 10 mg (4 of them) and I slept better that way.  Not perfect but a heck of a lot better than I would have without.

You are taking a huge step and it won't be easy but come here as much as you can.  Everyone will offer you lots of support and you'll get some excellent advice.

I just finished 14 days clean after 10 years on pain meds.  I'm not going to lie and say it was a piece of cake...it wasn't....if it had not been for this forum and all the awesome people here I don't think I could have done it so please take advantage all you can.

If at all possible try and see if you can get Day 3 off of work.  Usually that is the worst day.

Hi there and welcome to the forum. It's a great decision that you have made to get off of these pills. I would suggest not using the kratom because it is also addictive and in my opinion, nasty.   Stay hydrated even if you don't feel like it. Walks will help too. You can do this and hang in there and don't give up because it is worht the struggle and you will feel much better once you get some days in.  Best wishes   ;)

I'm going to use kratom to help with the w/d symptoms. ..that's what helped last time. I have a few xanax and valium for the anxiety...that's always the worst part for me.  What supplements would you suggest for the fatigue?  To help with sleep?  To help with restless legs?
