Gnarly...I got the whey protein finally!!!

So I just got back from Walmart and have the whey protein that was suggested. I was shocked....I was expecting something that tasted about like vomit...but it's actually really good! (In milk anyway)Thing is...I'm unsure of how many times a day I should drink it?

I'm hoping this is going to speed up my recovery. 18 days off methadone...3 days off percocets...such a huge accomplishment for me because in 8 years...not once did I go a day w/o my methadone. Never thought I could...but here I am...and I'm doing my best to make it work. The lack of energy, restless and painful legs are the worst at this point...it seems like the symptoms comes in waves. One minute my head is rocking...the next my legs are killing me...and a minute later I got the chills. But on the other hand, I know things could be alot worse so I try to be positive about the whole process and just look forward to tomorrow. Each day does get a little better...and 15 days ago I never thought I would be typing what I am now...clean for 18 days! (Methadone anyway...and that was the biggie for me).

So anyway, about the protein shakes...how many times a day? Anyone know?

Yeah I think I'll do breakfast and dinner time. Which will be good for me as far as breakfast because as bad as I know it is, I've never been a breakfast eater. Thanks guys. You're the best :)

I think bedtime is ok.It even says it on my container.I wouldn't worry about doing it wrong though.Your body and brain will take in the nutrients it needs regardless of when you do it.I would however try to take it an hour two before or after eating as the aminos compete with different foods for absorption

I noticed that it has alot of vitamins/minerals in it...it was suggested to even try at bedtime...what do you think? Is it something that would keep me awake or do you drink it in the morning & afternoon? Just wanting to make sure I do everything right. Setting myself up for success is key right now I think. Thanks again for all your help...this forum is a Godsend!

HI good job in picking up the whey protein it has a lot of the amino acids at a fraction of the price I use to drink 2 a day this is not a quick fix but rather the bulding blocks to put you brain back together again this battle is one by a lot of little fixes and time.................Gnarly

Maybe I should try it at bedtime then...I had the most horrible nightmare last night. I have a very cool and laidback older brother...who has never said sh*t even when he had a mouthful of it. In my dream I called to ask him to watch my kids while I went job searching, but before I could get that out, he said "what do you want?? You're an addict, I know you want something"! And why I had that dream, I don't know because he wouldn't say something like that even if he wanted to! A nice peaceful dream would be awesome! Lol. Thanks for the info...I drank my first one at 5:00...so maybe I should wait and do two tomorrow or do you think I could go ahead and take it at bedtime?

I think gnarly says twice a day.I use the muscle milk one(chocolate) and it is delicious with water and lactose free.I only drink it once per day before bedtime.I think it makes me have nice dreams.lol   Keep it up you are doing a great job!
