Got a new book...anyone read it?

Hey Everyone,
Can't stay on long, taking son to b-day party, but once he goes to bed tonight I'll be on again. Have any of you read the book When Painkillers Become Dangerous, by Drew Pinsky? Just bought it today, and it's the only book I've ever found about addiction to painkillers specifically. I think the author is a specialist in chemical dependency, and I'm interested to see what it says.

I would imagine that the fact that we are here, something is definitely wrong with them except for lining the manufacturers pockets.

I tried to read NA and won't pick it up again. I got it free as part of my recovery program. I know it isn't a book for me and I doubt I will go to any AA or NA meetings. For me personally I don't buy into the whole being clean of everything. I know what my poison is (pain pills). Besides I am on suboxone and that is a chemical but it works for me.

Hi, Just wanted to say I totally agree with you on this topic.  I do not belive that EVERY pill addict has to give up drinking because it is a trigger,,, No offense to anyone,,but, I in my heart, I dont belive that you have to give up EVERY vice in life,,, To me NA/AA is a wonderful program. but, almost EVERYONE has a vice,,,, I dont think for me if I have a few glasses of wine that it will cause me to relapse,,,I agree,,,,

Hey Guys,
Haven't started reading book yet, so not sure if it has to do with AA or NA, but it looked interesting because the back cover said something about exploring the addiction, genetics, treatments, ways to stay clean, etc. I don't know much about the AA/NA program, or the twelve steps, but maybe it talks about it...not sure! But will let you know what I think... and give it a thumbs up or down for everyone!
