Got clean, But having trouble staying clean with pain management

Hey everyone..........
Ive been a struggling opaite add. for awhile. First of ive had major back surgery and leg problems. I entered a rehab program about 4 months ago and got cleaned up went onto a 12step program. Ihave alot of faith that it works but i recently messed up on medicaition for 2 weeks. so far got a couple days. Its seemed to me that i still had pain after the months and up/downs that i sometimes didnt want to function? I really want this but was wondering if longtime methadone or suboxine treatment can both help me stay off using, reduce the ups/downs to start my life/foundation, help my pain a lil?

Hi,

I could not, with an open heart, recommend a maintenance drug except in extreme conditions and I don't think that is what you have. If you think it is bad now, you ain't seen nothing yet. Getting off of Methadone or Suboxone will be worse than what you are experiencing now.

I too live with chronic pain and I DO know how hard it can be some days, most days actually. Have you spoke with your doctor? Asked about alternative therapy?

IBK is right .Alot of us suffer from chronic pain issues and we have had to find other way to handle our pain without the help of opiates .I would look into ulternative  therapy .stay strong ..

Please heavily research the Methadone/ Suboxone, before you enter a clinic. I made the mistake of tapering on Methadone and even though it was only a 21 day taper.. I notice the difference between that and quitting CT. I wish I would of CT instead. Its seems the Methadone hangs on longer and is harder to come off of. I wish you much luck and hope that you can get clean and find some sort of support. Kim

I would not recommend methadone or suboxone - as both are strong opioids that are highly addictive and produce more severe withdrawals than regular opiates.
Best of luck to you - Please research these medications further and do check on some alternative/homeopathic therapy...
Peace

I would find a pain doctor that works in pain management and addiction. I went through 5 surgeries and have struggled with addiction. If you can find a good doctor they can form a plan that will work best for you.
