HELP!!!! DAY 13 CLEAN

by frustrpatient1964, Nov 04, 2009 09:02PM
i've been off klonopin 13 days now, and i'm having dizzy spells bad!!! and some stomach issues. my last doses before quitting were .25 every other day for a couple weeks
i called my Dr., who has been very sceptical all along about w/d's while on low dose. ever since i told him i wanted to stop because i felt worse taking meds and wasn't able to sleep with them anymore anyway.
he finally agreed to put me on klonopin to help reduction but always said he thought i had an underlying anxiety issue and i should continue taking them. well i called for blood work and sure enough he thinks i should stay medicated, what bothers me so much is i was never put on meds for anxiety, just for sleep. now i'm stuck in this cyclone.
has anyone who stopped had these dizziness issues? i've gotten them through my whole taper, now they're magnified bigtime. i'll have my bloodwork anyway but i'm concerned if everything is fine he will harden his position and be like,i told you so. it seems like a lose, lose situation for me.
i don't like my options with him if my blood work is clean, any and all suggestions welcome

Have you considered consulting with another physician?  There are plenty of them in recovery programs such as AA and NA who are familiar with the problems associated with stopping use of specific drugs.  Doctors are trained to medicate and will do so if they aren't familiar with addiction and recovery.  Withdrawal come in many and varied forms including dizziness.  That doesn't mean we should take more of the substance that is causing the problem to begin with.

he's definitly old school and has very little knowlege on this, will continue to follow my instincts, i don't need drugs to clear my mind, it's getting better day by day. sometimes 2 steps forward 1 step back, but i've never heard anyone yet say how easy it would be. i take the good with the bad and keep plugging away, really enjoying the good and the bad days will only reinforce my determination to eliminate this poison from my life

I would ask for a COPY of your blood work.. (and any other pertinent health information on yourself) and hire another MD
