HElp to get off the pills PLEEZ

I really need help and advice. I've been on pills "percocet" for 13 years and I'm really fed up and want off. I've been trying to quit but I'm scared. I'm constantly sick. I dont know if I've destroyed my belly or not. I'm taking between 15-20 a day 7.5s. I'm almost outta pills now and I REALLY Want to quit. I tried a year or so ago to go to methadone clinic and it was HELL to get off but I just bounced back to the pain killers. This is consuming my life. It's ruining my marriage. Any advice. How to do it the best way. I hate w/ds they are scary your mind goes crazy your body acts crazy. Please help!!
thank you
dessss

Oh, I will go look.....................it is not that we haven't studied in depth, my 14 year old is a little hesitant and then the real issue is my husband has a great job and he is not sure about leaving it...................

How are you feeling today?

Write a post to FLaddict.................she is great with figuring out a taper with what you have left.    She told me about the taking halves all day and it allowed me to taper much faster and without terrible, agonizing wd.

You are fine, just keep posting, that is what I did at the beginning, just hung on every word and read through about 3 years worth of posts!!!!  It helps to see how many people are doing this.

I love your lifestyle.   That has been our dream.............I hope we can someday!!!

love to you!

Thanks for caring. I'm holding onto this board right now like you wouldnt believe. I've been using anywhere from 9-15-20 a day. Just depends. For instance yesterday I took 2.5 (7.5's) when I woke up and usually I take 4. For some reason 4 is the number always. then at lunch I took 4 (5ers) sometime after that I took 2 7.5's and then last night I took 4 (5's).

So far today I took 2.5 (7.5s) I'm going to try to only take 2-3 more today. I know it's physically possible. I wont be sick. It's just mentally not going to my spots pouring them all out counting them Every Single time... (I hate it)
I thought about giving what I have left to my dh to give me what I'm trying to take and then taking the rest of them with him to work. I dont have a ton left right now so I'll need to taper quickly but if it helps at all its the way I'll go. If I dont really have enough to make a difference I should just ct.... I dunno. But thanks so much for being here all of you and keeping me occupied for most of yesterday and probably all of today.

I am 43 and have been using for 3 years................I am in legit pain control for tmj.     I started with Norco and took them as directed for the first 2  years and then it just spiraled from there this last year.

I got up to taking 20 a day and I knew I was in serious, serious trouble.

I am down to 4 a day and for me the taper was the answer.    I dropped from 20 to 7 and then to 6 to 5 and now to 4.    I did  this over a period of only 10 days.     In 3 days I am going to 3 day and then 3 days later 2 a day and then 3 days later clean...............I am feeling like a totally new person, it is amazing.

You can do this girl, you just have too.

Lean on us..............vent, read, vent, post, it is all so easy with everyone here to find support.    Not that the wd is easy, it certainly is NOT but you can find amazing support here any hour of the day.

Keep us posted hon,
Karen

I had been taking narcotics on and off for over 20 years.  This time I wanted to quit and was ready.  I picked a day to stop, did a very fast taper in about 10 days (I went from aprox. 20 pills down to 1 in that time period), I also started taking Vit. B complex and Potassium, made an appointment with a doctor (to get clonidine), and quit ahead of schedule.  The worse of the withdrawals were the first few days of my taper and by the time I got to the end of my taper I did not even want to have to take the pills anymore.  When I finally quit I barely had any withdrawal symptoms (but the clonidine is the kicker with this part).  I think (after quitting and going back so many times) the hardest part is living life from the withdrawals on out.  You really have to be ready to change the way you think, react and learn to live a lifestyle that works to keep you sober. I guess it is really hard for some people to taper too and it also may drag things out for you so QT might make it more tolerable.  I hope some of that information helped you.  Good luck : )

Cutting your dose down some can help reduce the intensity of withdrawals... it will not be a proper taper so I can't say for sure exactly how much it will help but it should help your body adjust a little so it won't be as shocked when you quit.

I believe you asked a couple of times about taking clonidine and it's like 3 x day for 3 to 7 days from what i read. Make sure you can take them. I took them during my c/t and it helped.

when you flagged it means that your filling scripts in excess and usually with multiple doctors.....
Once flagged at a pharmacy anytime you bring in a script they will call a doctor.........
Doctors or pharmacists can do a sweep check in the city on you to check on how many scripts are being filled in your name around town at various phamacies and doctors.......
Police can be contacted at this point or you can be black balled.........

I just had a thought. What if I took the pills I had left and took my dose way down. I'm talking like taking 2 in the morning I usually take 4 and then maybe waiting it out until evening and then taking 2 again. In the long run would this help with the withdraw or would it remain the same intensity??? This is very important to know...

I'm not exactly sure but I know that he called the 2 docs that I had scripts filled for there and also called the pharm accross the street (small town) I'm not even sure if that's leagal but he did it. And he said he couldnt fill it and wouldnt fill anymore narcs for me. I've only been in this town for 1 in a half months. Crazy.. But it was a real eye opener. very embarrassing. I wont even go there to shop for food and it's one of only two grocery stores in this town.

I was right with you several weeks ago.  When I blew through 90 VIC ES's in 6 days, I knew I had a serious problem.    Before that, I always told myself I handled it.    And I was "sick" all those 6 days - go figure why one does this to themselves.

Well, now I am on the 13th day off.   Believe me, the first few days weren't fun, but they were endurable.   I used Kratom (yes, I know - controversial, but legal so far) to take some of the edge off, and that really helped.  I was in a position where I couldn't take off work - and I to get my dad into a nursing home at the same time.    I also had no one - absolutely no one - to help me with this.   My husband had no idea, same with my friends.

Please let us know how you're doing - I'm new to the forum as well.    But this is something you really can't do unless you absolutely, absolutely want to quit.

Believe it or not, execise helped.    I used to be a competitive runner - obviously no more, but today I ran an hour (6 miles) after work.

I tried methadone and subox always went back to the pills . I am hoping to just kick it all. I'm sick of being a slave to it. I do have some colonidine I have 20 .1 mg.. Any suggestions on the best use of this?

oh and i forgot to mention, i have been dabbling with most any opiates for 15+ years..so it can be done....but you will need support, i do not beleive it can be done alone and not end up back where you started...because for me the depression and dysphoria was the worst and longest part,it always drove me back to the pills.... still having issues with the depession...thats the hardest part i think...
