Reason I ask is that Tramadol has an antidepressant in it..And I continue to wonder if thats the reason why it produces symptoms that surpass normal oxycodone/hydrocodone wd's.....And if you still have cymbalta in your picture, I have to wonder if that is causing some of the symptoms that are chasing you.....Dav
Yikes! Info from a site that promotes the Waismann Method anjeliejo?..Be careful with that..I'm not trying to discount your experience or symptoms but let me use my experience trying to shake free of oxycontins which I finally let go of last January..Around September I was searching for options and my Doctor recommended I switch to Tramadol. As its non addicting and would have few side effects once stopped. Now this is a Doctor I have known for years...He honestly believed that..Well, ask anyone who has ct'd from tramadol in here as to what they went thru..You will find everyone stated H*ll over and above any opiate wd they had done in their past..
Ladywithtime above made a comment that Dr's sometime are quick to discount things at times based on info they have been given provided by the pharmacutical companys...Had I not found this forum when I did, I possibly would have found myself going thru much worse wd's instead of finally doing a 2 week taper to rid myself of the oxy on my own over christmas...Again, I'm not trying to discount anything as being a possible reason as to why you had a seizure, rather point out that Dr's don't always have a complete picture of what the true consequences of certain drugs "really" can do to a person after longterm use...And in warnings, one of the most famous phrases one finds in warnings is "may cause"..
What has your cymbalta use been the past couple of months if I might ask?
Just a side note anjeliejo..
I had a short spell experience with cymbalta 4 years ago..Personally, I would suspect it as being a factor in your seizure..I sincerely hope your not trying a cold turkey off of that as thats one that needs to be tapered..Warnings were modified after it became apparent there were serious side affects associated with stopping cymbalta suddenly. The FDA forced Lilly to post these warnings with the prescription and to work closely with your Dr on the taper.....
Usedto be...Cymbalta...which I've been on for years...I just took it that one day as I really don't want to be on any meds...I'm finding info all over the net that going cold turkey off Oxycodone (Percs) can cause seizures...so people definitely need to be aware...It may happen rarely or not..but it does happen...My regular Family Dr. and Neurologist confirmed it..I'm not trying to scare anyone reading this but it can and does happen...it happened to me...and that was one experience I hope I NEVER have again!!!

You said in another post that you had just started taking some medication for depression. What was it?
anj, i agree with dav125. while i'm not saying that it COULDN'T happen the likelyhood of it happening is extremely rare. the reason why i'm saying this is because alot of times doctors like to dismiss everything and blame it on the drugs...i was told by a nurse that when a doctor hears anything regarding drugs they discount everything else! please for your sake, follow up on this with a neurologist and see what they have to say--i don't want to alarm you, i just want you to be safe! Lisa
Anjeliejo, as Laurel453 says, this is a very rare occurrence if only perc's were involved..Your probably the first person I've seen post in here over the past year and a half I've been around that has mentioned having a seizure related to the oxycodone/hydrocodone pain pill realm..Makes me wonder if its related somehow to the morphine and Febtynal? cold turkey you did a few months back (Did you mean fentanyl as in patches ?)
Xanax and valium are well documented as possibly causing seizures if stopped suddenly but not the oxy or hydro based meds..I would keep an eye on this , maybe see your Dr and get a physical and explain this event to him..If what the ER Dr said was true, we would have had 100's of people in here commenting about that being a concern if dealing with ct's from percocets, roxies or some of the hydro meds such as lortab or norco..Going ct from these pain pills is one of the hottest topics in here adding 3 to 5 new members daily and honestly I have not heard anyone mention this before.
I would consider getting this checked out though with your Dr to be on the safe side and see if something else might be going on to have caused that. I'm not saying it can't happen, it just strikes me as odd..
i am sorry too, anjeliejo...it was really a scary experience and not the common one but how are you today ?
Hi ! I am sorry to hear this . I am sure that was very scary ! How much were you taking and what had you tapered down to ? I know when I stopped I had my annual physical and the nurse was taking my blood pressure and was looking at my history and looking at the my blood pressure and said this can't be right ! She got another blood pressure monitor and the same high reading . She brought my doctor in and said Jim your blood pressure is really high ! What's going on ? I was scared to death and said to myself I had better tell him . He said oh that explains it . I said I was only taking three 10/500s a day and he told me I would be fine but to come back in a week so he could check it . It was normal the next week but I know all to well how scared you must have been . How are you now and how is your blood pressure ? Take care Jimmy
