Has anyone used Benzo's or similar to help with WD symtoms?

I'm just getting ready to go to the doctor tomorrow, and I am going to beg for help so I can quit cold turkey.  I need to be able to function, I can't have any down time, so I want to enquire about getting something to help with my nerves/Anxiety and sleeping (I have quit before and I know what I'm in for but this time I can't take any time off) and I was wondering what other people may have used that helped?  I just want something to get me through the first 2 weeks of WD.  Any suggestions I would love to hear if anyone else did this and if it helped?

Hi thank you for the suggestion, I am willing to try anything, and I will ask about that.

that's what I'm thinking if he only gives me 5 or 10 and is monitoring me I would be happy with that..I need to keep working and sleep..so those are the main things I want help with..I can deal with a little pain here and there.

I'll post again tomorrow as I'm seeing the doctor tonight!!

thanks!

you know, i would avoid benzo's. there are some other things that do help with relaxing. hydroxyzine is something that you could ask your doc about.....i have no clue how well it works in these types of situations. its a drug used for anxiety but it's not addicting. i don't know how well it would work, if at all...but i would just think something like valium or any benzo could be taking a risk that isn't worth taking for just a few days of withdrawal symptoms. just my thoughts, though. it's likely if your doc only gave you 5 or 10 tabs, you would not have any problems at all. good luck!

Ask your doctor for Clonidine, it really does help.  Valium also helps.  As for natural remedies, sleep as much as possible, take long hot baths, exercise, and try your hardest to remain strong.  Good luck

Hi Dane,

Thanks for your response.  Yes I want to go cold turkey, I can't stand it anymore, I don't want to buy anymore, I just want to be done with it.  I just want to stop.  I just hope the Doctor can give me something to help at least a little bit.

I have been trying to prepare myself at least a little bit by eating better, and exercising and taking some vitamin's.  So I hope that helps also.  I know it's going to be hard, but I really feel like I can just quit if I set my mind to it, and I plan on quitting starting on the weekend so at least if I need to rest or lay down I can for the first few days.

Anymore suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

thanks!

Are you sure you want to go cold turkey?  I think maybe if you taper it might be easier for you especially since you dont want to take time off.  I have used Clonadine to help me through the withdrawals and it did help, but it made me sleepy.    Either way you chose to kick this i wish you the Best of luck.
