Have to GET OFF the VICS

by Jewels110, Oct 23, 2008 09:48PM
I have been taking vicodin for about 4 yrs now. I started out taking maybe 1 a day for a year or a little over. I really do have a neck injury. Anyway, right now I am at the point where I am taking 4-5 a day of the 500mg.  I am also prescribed Darvon but I like the Vics better and I don't take them together ever.  I honestly really need some help with what my withdrawals will be like without them.  I took my last one today but I did take 2 darvon today and I won't take anymore.  I want to know from someone with experience if my extreme headaches today and lack of energy is the result of withdrawals and also if I can still take 1 - 2 of my darvon for pain or do you think I should get off of everything. How long will it take me to get through the physical withdrawals as well as wanting them?  I know it won't be an easy road but I am going through AA right now and hoping the 12 steps will help me through this also.  Any info is greatly appreciated.

good for you...taking your life back is the greatest gift you can give yourself.  i will try to answer some of you questions.  the symptoms you are having are classic w/d symptoms.  the length of w/ds are different for everyone, but for most the physical last about a week..with days 3 n 4 being the worst for me.  use the thomas recioe to help with the recovery.  (its in the health pages bottom right of this page)  also start exercising now.  i know you dont feel like it but it helps the brain prodeuse endorphins it has been getting from the pills..so et moving.  the mental part takes longer..for meit was about 3 months before i started to feel like me.  the aa meetings will help if you work the steps.  there is great support here so keep postin..if you need to talk you can pm me..good luck, you CAN DO THIS
