Headed for a crash?

Headed for a crash?

I am curious, since I am not experiencing depression, in fact just the opposite. I am very happy with myself for making the decision to quit. Am I headed for a big crash (mental breakdown).

Maybe?? But, probably not. I think that most of the people with severe depression and anxiety issues had them before the drugs. Just seems like a pattern I've seen through months of posting on this forum. I may be wrong though. What do the regulars think??

It's also a part of getting clean. Your not used to dealing with life sober and it's not easy. That isn't something thats going to make you automatically happy, so thats pretty natural to feel depressed.

Sorry lunachick I am not sure that I understand your response. Are you saying that depression is an inevitable symptom of detoxing? And even though right now I am not depressed, I am eventually going to be?

Thanks,

Joe

oh sorry..no I misread your post. I thought you said that you WERE depressed. My bad. No it's absolutely not inevitable. Thats really great that you are happy. Last time I got clean I was totally happy the entire time I detoxed and was in recovery. Good for you. Be aware though that some people may tell you that what you are experiencing is what they call a "pink cloud", where you are just so thankful to be clean that you are oblivious to anything else. I think thats bull sh*t and you should really enjoy your happiness, You deserve it afterall. Sorry again for mis-reading your post. I usually get mad when others don't read posts correctly and here i was doing the same thing. Good luck.

How long have you been clean, if you are at the moment? What were you taking? How long and how much? It does kind of depend on all that.

Maybe you're just getting lucky?

Perhaps it's the beginnings of dementia...? We can share rooms at bellevue!!!  :)
