Heart attack/od adderall lortab

5 days ago I took a 25 mg adderall and probably about 1/4 of a 7.5 my hydrocodeine. Twenty minutes later I was in a full daze sweating freezing heart rate pumping like mad I thought I was on the verge of dying for the next 4 hours. I really find it hard to describe what exactly I felt it was very traumatic and terrifying feeling that close to death. After 4 hours my heart finally slowed enough for me to go to sleep. Thank god I was lucky enough to wake up the next morning. First off, does anyone know what happened to me? Did I have a heart attack or overdose? FYI I was addicted to adderall the past 3 years and was actually clean for 4 months before I started recently taking again. Since then I have been having what I think are panic attacks. I had one the morning after I woke up from the experience, that whole day I was very short of breath and pretty much terrified I was about to go thru that again. The next day I had another small panic attack where my whole body washed over with a wave of tingled and dizziness enough to send me into a panic for about 5 minutes. Last night I woke up in the muddle of the night and kept getting dizzy than dozed off again. Today so far I haven't had an attack but who knows if I'll wake up again tonight and have dizziness. Any ideas if I'm just traumatized or am I about to have a major heart attack soon?

I just recently had a heart attack at the age of 44. I also take adderall. I don't abuse it though. I take 20 mg in the morning and 20 mg later in the day. However, I was a two pack a day smoker and had a serious problem with drinking red bull. I drank any where from 10- 18 of the 8 oz a day. It's all I ever drank. Since my heart attack, I haven't had a cigarette since, nor a red bull. But after 2 months of not taking my adderall I went back to my cardiologist and he gave me the ok to start my same regiment of adderall. I believe that we have to take a look at a lot more than just one thing. And if your having theses panic attacks, really dude, go see a doctor!!! As it ended up, my doctors told me that it was not my adderall , but rather my entire lifestyle. Food, drink, smoke, stress, lack of sleep ect. All of these things cause problems that can lead to strange side affects. Such as "sticky blood" that causes blood clots. I do not think one 25 mg and a 7.5 pain pill gave you that panic attack or possible small heart attack. (hell I thought I had bad heartburn) I think something FOR SURE is going on. You've probably beat ur bony up at this point. I'm a recovering alcoholic. I'm no stranger to addiction. Dude, go to a doctor before its too late. They can help you out. I'm quite shocked how much better I feel since the heart attack. I had a stint put in and now I'm on the right meds. I can take my adderall now because of those things. And, although it took about a year, my life is going in such a better direction since I quit drinking. Good luck.

When you do adderall, you blood pressure rises causing your heart to go into overtime, whenever this happens, even though your heart goes back to "normal" it weakens the heart just a little bit. So the next time you stress your heart out, it can't work as hard to keep up with the demands. Even though you had been clean from adderall for 4 months, the fact you abused it in the past, and used recently you heart was basically saying "Stop! I can't do this again!" I would definitely go to a doctor. Your heart is an amazing organ and can bounce back. If you abused it in the past, it doesn’t mean your going to be doomed the rest of your life. You can live a normal life, however, if you continue actively using adderall or any stimulant, your heart is going to get weaker and weaker. Go to a doctor though, get it checked out. It could be your body warning you that your heart is having a hard time and needs some attention. Good luck.

When I was on high doses of synthetic opiates I had one almighty panic very similar to your description this which convinced me (and 2 paramedics) I was having a Heart attack/ or had one. I had not
On (as my nick suggests)  nothing but I agree that the adderall will make these more likely.

If you have a heart attack it's usually pretty clear on an ECG and a test asap after symptoms called Troponin  level(about something present when heart cells are damaged) can provide a very reliable yes or no.
If you can get off the adderall,I feel it will make these occurences far less likely in the future.
Maybe this is a good time to take stock?

Best Wishes

Hi WTFhappened2me,

I had a very similar experience to yours a few years ago in Asia.. I was taking an OTC medication that contains pseudoephedrine (like Sudafed) and I'm guessing that it contains more per tablet than the same medicine in the US (as I've researche dit and no-one reports such strong effecst from overdosing on this stuff in the West) I started by scoffing 10 tablets a day (one packet) and got really pleasant head-buzzing and an 'ecstacy' type feeling of goodwill and contentment - i loved that buzz, so i started taking 20 tablets a day, and got an increased buzz.

So idiotically i increased the dose to 30 tablets a day and the inevitable happened: I had massive chest pains, the same panicky near death feelings you had (I started to 'fade out' and thought i was dying) and was very short of breath. Rushed to hospital and they did heart tests and found nothing, said it was panic (I told them nothing about the drugs). Two weeks later I did it again and had the same symptoms: THIS time the hospital suspected heart attack and kept me for observation. Their attitude was basically 'we can't help you. if you're going to die, you'll die, if not you won't' I didn't die and haven't touched the stuff since, but for months after the second incident i had panic attacks that seemed like heart attacks, and I was just so miserable: went to hospital several times, each time no heart condition.

So I reckon get checked out, but it's probably toxically-induced panic attack: prepare yourself mentally for future panic attacks, they'll probably happen now and again, but it's probably not a heart attack. Don't stress: But stop taking that stuff! I thought I'd found a 'wonder drug' but i found out later 30 tablets is a fatal dose, don't know how I survived - they reccomend stomach-pumping after 20!

Take care.

amphetamines can cause a high heart rate..they speed u up//specially if the dose is too high...i would doubt that 1/4 of a hydro pill would contribuute too much to what u described...a panic attack is also a possibility but panic attacks can be induced by the nervousness and fast heart rate amphetamines cause//and vice versa as paince attacks cause fast heart rates as well...in any case i would get checked out by a dr....cocaine, crystal meth..all amphetamine like drugs can cause heart attacks...it is best to get checked out by ur dr...and stop the adderall....easier said than done but may solve the problem

Sorry forgot to add. Sometimes when I am taking alot at one time I get very very angry and start getting what I chalked off to panic attacks brought on by the abuse of Adderall.

I agree with having it checked out as well, but as an Adderall and Oxycodone abuser/user what you described sounds like me when I over do it on the Adderall. I am actually sitting here now with my heart racing like crazy and feeling like I cant breath cause I took a lil more than usual this time. But I would see a Dr if I was you just to make sure that it isn't something serious.

Honestly there is no one that can answer that here .I would go see a doctor get a good checkup .Let them know what happened ...There is a good chance it was a panic attack but I would not take the risk ....

So sorry...lesson learned though,right?

Might be prudent to see a Dr. anyway for the sudden onset of rapid heart rate and shortness of breath. You can decide if you want to be completely honest or not. But,get that ticker listened to and perhaps an EKG.  You'll feel better if you do.  :)

All the best~

If you really feel it was more than a panic attack i would see a doctor immediately, thats not something to mess with and you dont want to sit around and find out on your own, if ya know what i mean.

I'm 28 and overall in pretty decent health besides the fact that I brutally hammered my heart for 3 years on that "wonderdrug" and almost died a couple days ago. I haven't had any of the symptoms if women having heart attacks but I haven't had a panic attack in 2 years. What I had 5 days agodefinitely had to be something more than a 4 hour long panic attack omg imnever touching anything again. I just hope I make it thru this. I seriously can't believe looking back now how I ever started on that crap. I was doing good too, clean and not even thinking about if for 4 months. I took a pill and a half thinking I could handle it again cause that's what I used to take on a daily basis. and then mixed it with lortab and went straight into hell.

How old are you?  Do you have an rx for both drugs?

Sounds like panic to me.Don't know...History of panic attacks?

The combo of these two drugs can really get you coming and going...just not a good combo. Don't do that again. And if you think it was a heart attack, call a Dr.or go to the ER.

These do sound like symptoms of panic attacks to me, not heart attack. I would definitley check with your doctor as soon as possible to be sure, and please leave the adderall alone. Good Luck.
