if you continue with the methadone 'treatment' (< read pharmacutical company profit at your very MASSIVE expense) you may become like so many of the LIFETIME methaone maintanance people.
gettng clean require taking less and less drugs until were clean, not switching drugs.
ESPECIALY NOT METHADONE....RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THAT EVIL EVIL DRUG.
If you purpose is to wean off percs I hope you have a plan of time in which to accomplish this...two weeks should be plenty........
Do you have a plan to stop soon?
Do you think I will still have withdrawl symptoms from either drug now? Its been 6 days without percocet and I was only on the Methadone for a grand total of 3 days. 1 dose at 30mg, 1 at 40mg, and yesterdays at 50mg. That sounds like a very short time to get as bad as that sounds. I dont know if it helps but there were almost 2 days between the last perocet and the first methadone. And the last time I took anything at all was yesterday at about 10am. Thats when they gave me the 50mg dose. After that making me feel so crappy I was hoping I could just kick both and be done with it.
And the only reason I have 120mgs right now is cause the clinic is closed today and tomorrow. It was supposed to be 1 dose at 60mg today, which so far I have skipped. And 60mg for tomorrow which I plan on skipping. If I continue to feel like I do right now I will just go drug free.
Thanks again for reading this. Im not trying to contradict anything said here I am just trying to get a better understanding of everything.
As bad as methadone can be if you stay on it to long, there are only acouple a ways to detox if your funds are limited and methadone is one of them and cheaper than Suboxone by far. I if you stay on Methadone for a very short time (2-4 wks max) you should be fine after. If are have a rough time this weekend, than just take part of you dose, you can tell how much you are taking. The clinic gives you a number to call if you have a problem. Tell tell you were fine at 30 mg and dont need to go up any higher. Did they just raise your dose or did you say something to them that you want to try a higher dose? They never gave me more unless i asked. Remember you get something like 14 days or so if you stop using it before they will drop you from the program so if you want to see how you feel after awhile and they want you to keep taking it, you can just stop on your own and you should know how you feel in that time. Hope you feel better soon and back on your feet again.
Thursday 30mg (inital paperwork/doctor visit and first dose)
Friday 40mg (still felt ok but felt a little "high")
Saturday 50mg (this made me extremely ill for over 24 hours)
Take home dose for Sunday @ 60mg (skipped)
Take home dose for Monday - Columbus Day @ 60mg (will skip this too)
Is it ok to skip these or will it hurt me to stop cold like this? I thought it would be ok since I was only on the Methadone for 3 days total so far. But if its not ok can I take a partial dose? After reading everyones comments I really dont want to get addicted to Methadone. Hell, if I wanted to be addicted to anything I would have stayed on the percs. By the way I am at 6 days with no percocet, which I am proud of, but now I worry about the Methadone.
Oh and one last question....is Methadone related to the street "Meth"? I have never messed with street drugs other then the occasional weed when I was younger. Thanks again for reading this.
I wanted to tell you that i had a friend bump up a post for me yesterday and it has alot of info on methadone. I will bump it up for you and it is called Nutrition for withdrawals (or something like that) it is from Fladdict. You are correct to be worried about that drug, from everything i have read it sounds worse than percs addiction.
As far as my support system goes...my wife is my rock to hold on to. She has a problem with percocet's as well due to a kidney problem. She has been on them longer then me and she was able to quit cold turkey. We both quit on the same day 6 days ago. She was able to do it. She is absolutely amazing. We have 5 children and just decided that our family life was starting to get affected by our percocet addiction. She just up and quit like it was nothing. I dont know how...I guess she just has the willpower for it. I needed help. Now she is supporting my misadventures.
But enough rambling on here. I am going to read that post you suggested. Any other info that anyone has...please share. I am so thankful to have found this place and can learn all this info. Thanks again everyone.
Be clear with your prescriber that you only want a small dose of methadone and want to come off as quickly as possible and that you don't want methadone maintenance.
The withdrawal from methadone almost sent me crazy! Depression, insomnia, paranoia, hallucinations, pain, profuse sweating, hearing things, there were some stages during withdrawal where i forgot who i was. You have probably got the picture now!!! So my advice would be to keep well away and try to beat percs another way.
I still struggle to sleep now!!!!!
