It's day 4 for me when will the restless legs go away? Please advise.
Dear Mellie,
I so agree with your advice. Unfortunately Dr. Morris was a urologist that specialized in kidney stones. He obviously was not as good as I had hoped though. We did try the lithotripsy and I was one of 5% that the surgery did not work on. We've done metabolic testing, I.V.P.'s, ultra sound, you name it. I don't know what another doctor will do, but my hope is that they will try more than once.
Thank you to everyone for your feedback and encouragement. It is after midnight and I am so miserable. I just keep hanging onto the hope that I am almost on the other side of this. There is a verse the Lord gave me that has been such an encouragement:
“But forget about all that Mary–It is NOTHING compared to what I am ABOUT TO DO! For I am about to do something brand new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19 (The Message)
It will get easier, I am on my 16th day. I thought I was going to die, but I didnt. I pulled through, will alot help from these great people here. Just keep posting. Its very comforting to me that I was not alone and had so much support. But if you want this bad enough you can achieve it. I dont want to forget what I went through, ever. To go back and repeat this all over again. I will be praying for your sucess.

I've never had them but I've heard kidney stones are terrible and people often say it's worse than labor. But you have such a problem with them, you may want to see a real specialist; someone that's considered an expert in the field. Not sure where you are or where your physician is in relation to where you live, but I know for me I wouldn't go to my local, suburban doc; I'd be in Boston at one of the major hospitals.
And I'm not sure, but I think there's something they can do that sort of blasts them and breaks them up. I'd look into that rather than thinking of passing them.
Best of luck with the withdrawal and the kidney stones.
Thank you also Ibkleen;-) I've been reading through other posts and love your advice and suggestions.
Thank you so much Gnarly!
I am changing doctors, but my old one told me that I could continue on percocets. He felt like this was a fluke that I had to be on them for 13 weeks and that I should do fine if I just pass one at a time. (Thus why I'm changing drs)
I'm not sure how I feel or what I believe about this? I know for sure that my body did become tolerant and my emotions were playing around with wanting to take them when I shouldn't? But as of yet, I have only taken them as scheduled, when there is a documented kidney stone.
The ONLY reason I am considering using percs when I pass more is because the pain is horrible and I have so many stones in both kidneys the radiologist wrote on my report that he could not even count them. Some stones I can pass with ibuprofen, but anything bigger than 4mm requires narcotic pain meds. I would love to her feedback and idea's from those of you with chronic pain.
Thanks,
Mary
HI welcome to the forum....it will probably take a few days to get better for most its usually a 4 day withdrawal and starting to come out of it on day 5...but its different for everybody

Hi Mary & Welcome,
Withdrawal usually lasts 5 to 7 days and depends on a lot of factors. Day 3 is usually the most uncomfortable with chills, sweats, restless legs, potty problems, etc. If you go tot he top of this page, to the right, you will see the health pages. In there you will find The Thomas Recipe and The Amino Acid Protocol. Both contain supplements to help ease the withdrawal.
Keep yourself busy reading, watching tv, doing jig saw puzzles or whatever you can do. Try light exercise, even walking up the street and back will help. Take as many hot baths as you can. Drink plenty of fluids. Bananas can help replace the potassium you will lose and help with the rls. Try and keep some food down, even soup is great. Keep yourself occupied and as healthy as you can. Post here any questions you have. There is always someone around to help you.
Have you spoken with your doctor about what you will do when and if the stones return?
