Help, what to do

What should I do about an addiction to Vicoden. I had a broken back and torn rotator cuff. I have been taking vics for about 4 months and want to keep on taking then.
I have wd's if I don't take them regularly. I am having surgery on my shoulder in about a month so I will still need meds for the recovery of my should. What do I do about the addiction? Worry about it later?

I also broke my back 7 years ago. Had surgery to put me back together again. I didnt think I would ever get of the meds but am now 36 days clean. The pain I had while on the meds was worse than the pain I now have without the meds. Your bodies pain tolerance really lowers because of the meds. Once off the meds your pain tolerance goes back up and you dont need the meds for pain. I think the best thing to do is to wait until your next surgery and then kick the habbit. Your addiction is very lo at this point so dont start taking anymore. Also you will need to let the doc no about the vicadin before the surgery so he can give you a different pain med. Your body has a tolerance to the vic so it may not work for the pain during post op. Once done with the meds get rid of them.

I have been taking them for about a year prior to this recent accident. Right now I take two 3 times a day. Then I still want more and thats when the WD's start.

how much are you taking? if its only been 4 months WDs shouldn't be too bad. if you need them for pain do you have someone who could give you the vics as ordered so you wont take more then you need? then after the shoulder surgery tapper off them!!! you havent been on them long so get out while you can
