Help Please

Got a question ...A month ago i did a drug test for my doc and it was bad first time in 6 years..I lost a weeks supply of my meds ....i am on 120mgs of Methadone and 60mgs of percoset ...For back pain..I had some Morphine that was my mothers so i took 2 a day for a week...And that is what showed up so he cut me off with 1 week of percoset and my whole month of methadone...told me to wean off...I went back to see him and begged for another chance..He has now told me that he wants me to come back in 10 days with NOTHING in my system not even my reg meds.When i went back all that was in my system was my methadone that he prescribed..But he says i cant have it in my system either I have to be totally clean ..And he will see me again and give me my meds back ...Does this sound right?  So now I have to totally detox and then go back and get put right back on the same thing I had to detox off..Seems a little odd to me..

i think he wants to see if ur back pain is tolerable and if u can really comply with wat hes asking if the pain gets unbearable in the days of u detoxing call him n ask to come in early n provbe to him your ready

wow coming off methadone is going to be he!! and why on so much that a lot methadone and perk mix????

I have major back pain ,have had 5 surgeries..with a final fusion..Barley helps my pain. In the past doc has offered to put me on oxycottin ..I said NO..

I also have very back back had a accident 6 years ago .I had a fusion too after 6 trys of fixing it.So it was over a 6 year period that they meds went up in dosage.Could have put me on a stronger drug but I had ask not to be.

Man i feel for you! That doc Must not have a clue about Methadone WD's!  I dont know what to tell you. Maybe cally our primary care doc and tell him. Are go into a detox center for a week if possible. Im going thru Suboxne WD's right now. And have been thru just about every opiate Wd that there is and Methadone is bad. Im not trying to scare you im just being honest. You want die from it, but you will hurt Bad. If it were me knowing what i know. Id call a detox center, another Doc are someone for you to tell your story that can help you. Good luck. PS. Suboxone wd's suck also! Im on hour 44 and its just starting(long half life).

Wow I am sorry that your having to go through all that, I have been down back surgery route and I had n o luck with it. Helped about 6 months then started hurting worse than before. I dont understand why that doc wants you 100% clean you will have to go through pure he11 AND I would ask him whats point when you have been on methadone for that long takes while to get out system,. I don't understand this at all and 120 mgs of methadone is a fairly hefty dose,coming off of it that fast would be real rough.Like Hollie said that would be pure he!!.I'd be asking the doctor what the point is too....good luck to you.I hope it all works out....Kim

Doc says because i had a bad test I now have to be totally clean of everything even my methadone before he can see me again ...Does that sound normal?(A small trace of pot...very small...only smoked 1 time in 3 years and ofcourse i would get tested hadnt been tested in 6 years...I went back after 1 month pot was gone only thing in the urine was my methadone . But he says everything has to be out...Does this sound right..Maybe legal reasons i dont know.

Ok,so you are saying the doc wants you to be TOTALLY clean of EVERYTHING and THEN he will prescribe you the perks and methadone again,just like before? If thats the case,I don't know if it's for legal reasons or not,just sounds crazy to me.Wish I had a better answer for you.Stick around maybe someone will come along who will be of more help...Again,best of luck...Kim

Yep I know seems crazy to me ..Maybe because i had a bad test and now for his legal purpose ..He has to treat me like a brand new patience i dont know seems crazy to totally detox me from methadone and percoset just to put me right back on them .

How much time is he giving you to come off the methadone?  And has he helped you out at all with some type of taper plan?

When I went in 6 weeks ago he did a urine test it showed pot.So he gave me 1 week of my percoset and my whole month of methadone.Said to come back in 1 week so i did .He then told me that he sent the test off to do a gas test on it because of it showing something.When he got the gas test back it showed that i had Morphine in my system also..I then had to confess and tell him that someone took my pill case the week before i was due .I was hurting so bad that i couldnt stand it so i had some Morphine here that had belonged to my mother so i took 2 a day til i was due for my meds .He told me I should have been honest with him about it and because i wasnt that he could no longer see me nomore told me to wean off of what i had left said it wouldnt kill me but it would be hell.I called him back after a month and begged him for another chance .He had me come in did another drug test and there was no morphine in it just my methadone and a slight trace of the pot...He said everything must be out of my system before he will be my doctor again even the methadone he perscribed.I never abused my meds never got high on them only gave me quailty of life.I guess i should have called him when i notice my meds gone and did a police report but i didnt .I posted this whole story eariler didnt know if you seen it all ot not.thx so much

It took 6 years to get to 120mgs of methadone started out at 20mgs.He has offered to put me on higher drugs in the past But I didnt want to go on oxycottin or anything else stronger.But now I have arthritist in my back.I am in pain all the time even when i take the meds never completely pain free never.

No,I did see it...sorry didn't mean to make you retype it.I was just a little confused.I guess what I should have asked more clearly is are you currently still taking the methadone or have you stopped?Methadone does stay in your system for quite a bit longer then most other opiates,and your doctor certainly should be aware of that.I'm really sorry for your situation,especially since you say you were taking your meds as prescribed and for a legitimate reason.

No I stopped them on Monday took 1 10mg at 8am .Nothing scence then ...I am so glad that i did  taper a little during the last scrip he gave me i got to 40mgs a day and then 30mgs and then the 1 10mg on Monday.He told me on Monday to take NOTHING else and he would resee me in 10 days to do another test and if i was clean he would give me my meds back and be my doc again.And he was a godsend anyways because i have no insurance after my workers comp ran out and i am fighting for my disability But he continued to see me once every 3 months at a 75.00 pay.

Is 40 mg. of methadone 3x daily, with 15mg tablets of oxycodone 4x daily considered a high dose? I'm curious based on what I'm reading here.
