Help for a 22 yr. male

My boyfriend's son is prescribed psychiatric medication but sells half and od's the remainder...He is consumed with the tragic death of his Mom and and loss of his step Mom....Good kid in real life (lives with Father)...Hostile when under the influence.  The Doctor does not recognized the abuse of his prescription.  What are the steps for recovery....I am way out of my league here.  Both myself and his Father could be best described as " Recovering Enablers"...We will no longer prolong his recovery.  Any suggestions? Gennie

The boy is acting out his anger at his 2 moms leaving him....I don't know how long ago it was, but this is normal.  When my daughter died of an OD her 14 year old daughter spent about 6 months as an inpatient.  She had terrible anger,....putting her hand thru glass doors, and windows.  When she got out and came to live with us the hospital did her some good, but she still screamed hit walls, and cussed her papa and I all the time....even going into the street and yelling at the top of her voice cussing us on the inside of the house.  She spent another year and 1/2 with a phyciatrist.  This all happeded years ago.  She is now 19 married and about to have a baby.  He needs more help than you can ever give him no matter how much you love him.        Jerri

I'm so sorry for the looses your step son has suffered.. Have you spoken to his Dr. about his abuse of the meds.. They can arrange too dole them out on a limited bases for awhile.. I agree with the above post he needs counseling to work out the anger and pain of loosing 2 woman that obviously meant a great deal too him.. I wish you well on seeking help. lesa
