Good for you!! Everyone's different but after day 5 for me last time things got easier. Are you looking into aftercare? thats what I didn't do and between that and being foolish enough to think I could take my medication as prescribed I ran into trouble again and here I am back at square one. You have the will jb and thats whats needed to kick this. You keep getting back on that horse as many times as needed to beat this. Looks like you've learned from previous relapses and have done some things to put the odds in your favor. Way to go!! We will all be here for eachother and help eachother during those rough times. Our reward is priceless for getting off the pills. We will have a new lease on life and break the chains of addiction. To be able to wake up and not NEED to do a pill to get going. In my case, I am finally going to be able to live with minimal pain AND have control of my life. Its going to be awesome!! Keep posting jb, we're all here for eachother. Only one addict knows what another goes through when we try to reclaim our lives. It ain't easy but with help we can make it somewhat bearable.

It will get easier. For me after about day 5 I began to feel better. The sickness had gone but please get some aftercare. Going through detox is one thing. It truly is the mental stuff thats hard to deal with. Thats where aftercare comes in. Have you read up yet on PAWS? (post addiction withdrawal symptom) Its posted here on this site and is a definite must read. Between your will, aftercare and the support that you will get here you can use all the above as tools to conquer this addiction.

I am going CT next Thursday and know that I am in for a helluva ride but it will be sooo worth it. I am fortunate to have people in my life that love and support me. My grandmother will be coming up to help me with the kids, my husband will be able to help that weekend as he'll be home from work and my brother will ensure I take my prescribed dose after that. I'm going Monday to get some xanax from the doctor to help me sleep for the first few days then I will discontinue them.

We will all help each other beat this. We can do and your doing it now!! Be so proud of yourself and treat yourself to something nice, maybe a nice dinner out when your up to it in a few days. Hang in there, it will get better.

I am also taking xanex to help me sleep at night and with the anxiety of withdrawls the first couple of days.  I only use those things for the first few worst days.  However, i have never made it through 4 days yet. I am starting over again Sunday.  This time i am preparing with whey protien, b vitamin complex, milk thistle, multi vitamin, gatorade, healthy foods, little xanax, and sleep aid.  I am really ready this time.  Good luck to you.  I will keep you in my prayers.  Actually, all of you are in my prayers every night.  I know this is tough and there are so many going through this struggle everyday.  Please keep me posted on your recovery.

I understand the Xanax is good short term because it is a benzo and get be really hard to quit...harder than opiates!  Nyquil can be habit forming so I mainly use melatonin(4mgs)!  I ran out few nites ago so used the nyquil!  I don't like replacing something habit forming with something else habit forming!  I enjoy things too much!  A lot of people recommend the Xanax!  I think it's in the Thomas recipe!

thanks for the advice. I have had soooo many surgeries etc in my 40's, so plenty of reasons for med's around.  I turned 50 in April, and decided to let go of all the stressors in my life. Had to let go of friends that were causing me to pop a pill just to be UP to see them. Had to go on an UNPAID leave of absense from my job, but am lucky that my husband can pick up the slack, and I really had a recreational job with not alot of money coming in.
CT is sooooo aweful, you really do feel like you have the flu. I just want to sleep through the next few more days. From what I have read, am I really half way there???
I am going to be here for you.. I promise... If I can do this, then by god, all of us here on this message board is going to help each other get through this

Good job on two days first off!  Remember that the worst only lasts a few days and you are in it rite now!  I'm day 7 now and feeling great!  My day 2 was worst physically and day 4 was a mental disaster(read my post), day 5 was good, day 6 was better, and now, day 7 the fog is gone I slept last nite and I'm enjoying my boys today with a clear and free mind and body!  I didn't do much other than post here, stay busy, and used melatonin and nyquil for sleep!   Every hour for you is important at your stage.  Stay strong and want to quit....it will get a lot better soon!

Have you checked out the Thomas Recipe posted on this site? That can help with the withdrawals. I found hot baths helped with the restless legs, if i could have stayed in the hot tub the whole time last time I detoxed I would have!

I'm also going to go CT from an oxycontin addiction. I am at about 100 mgs a day and needing to reclaim my life and not have it run by pills. Your on the right track. Keep posting, the detox is one thing but the mental part is what gets most people. I know it did me, that and the intense pain in my back from having spinal stenosis.

This forum is a Godsend for people trying to regain control of their lives. I also think you should look into aftercare whether that be with a therapist, group meeting like NA or all the above. I never did the aftercare but this time I plan on doing it. I know I need to address the issues that led me to overmedicate and become addicted in the first place. Hang in there, it will get easier and try the Thomas recipe if you havent yet.

And keep posting :)
