My heart goes out to you, in 2003 I had been taking about 600mg's a day for 5 years. I was sent to a detox hospital to get off, but instead they weaned me all week with methodone. THEN, sent me home. Well, 24 hours later, i went into full blwon withdrawals. I called them and they said they couldnt do anything, that I was no longer their patient. They told me, I couldnt be going thru withdrawals cause the oxy's were out of my system and I was only on the meth for a week! I beleived them for like, 1 minute. Six yrs of that much oxy's couldnt possibly be outta my system in a week I thought. The meth, only postponed the inevitable. It was a whole 3 weeks, of non stop withdrawals, as intense from the first day to the 21rst day. I went to a doctor twice during those horrific weeks with the help of my daughter driving me, and it was confirmed it was withdrawals. I never in my life experienced so much anxiety and pain and begged GOD to take my life. Thank GOD I got thru it, but you should try to find a detox center, ( without introducing meth), to wean you off this stuff. It's going to be awful and unsafe for you, I dont know how I lived thru it. GOD Bless

hello robert99200 here.

No their is no limit on the amount of oxycontin they can prescribe in a day as many as you need i guess, and this was aprroved by my doctor and the doctors from workman's compensation ,I was in so much pain I wanted to die, they tried all kind of other medication and the only one that would work was oxycontin at a very high dosage,so now if they take me off and i go back like I was in 05 well I wanted to die then so whats going to change, the pain is so great you just want it to stop at any cost.Thats what I am worried about now.

Thank you for you support

Have they increased the dose to this amount because you are opiate tolerant? and you had increased pain,,your doctor shoulda tried another long acting pain med after a certain amount was reached. I work in hospice and there are no ceilings for the amount of pain meds we give,,we increase as needed for comfort. I have had 2 patients on high doses like this,,,young patients with cancer,,,you see where I am going here? This is not a safe dose at all. You definatly definatly will need inpatient/ continous medical monitoring. Can you call the drug company,,explain your predicament and see if they can work with your insurance so you can at least start a taper/ or switch to a covered long acting pain medication with your doctors supervision? Your doctor needs to get involved in this ASAP. Im very worried for you. Keep us posted. ~Bkitty

Hi Robert!

I hope you check in soon and let us know how you're doing...

Avisg had your thread sent over to this forum where there are more folks to offer you support.

You've been taking a huge amount of Oxy for a long time. You're going to need some medical help to taper down before you stop completely.

What's going on with the prescribing doctor?

Robert , what has your doctor said i thought there was legally only so much they could prescribe in a day and I would think this would be way over that I would go to the doctor and demand help to get off of this . You are going to HAVE to have medical detox .If he wont help then you will have to go to the ER you cant do this alone .PLZ don't even try I don't want to see anything happen to you,

robert,
as avisg stated it will be extremely dangerous for you to go off that large of a dose on your own. your blood pressure will sky rocket. you will need to be medically monitored. this can take place at a detox center or in the ER.
is your plan to get off them for good??

3000 mg a day I want to make sure thats right. If it is you have to seek help if that means you have to go to the ER then go to the ER .It would be very danerous to come off that amout.  I think you need med detox . we have a stubstace abuse forum. Right now this forum is slow so plz post over there as well there is tons of support  .Hang in there and let me know how you are . .  http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Addiction-Substance-Abuse/show/77
