Help please!

I have been on subutex for 6 years and started on 16mg. I finally reduced to 0.8mg in the last 6 months and then stopped taking them altogther 9 weeks ago. Does anyone know why I am still feeling bad withdrawals and how much longer they will last?

My drug treatment centre said they should have finished after 5 weeks and it doesn't matter that I was on them for such a long time, i must have sometime else wrong with me or its all in my head. They also said that now I have stopped opiates I can't go in and see a doctor unless I want to go back on a subscription, which I don't.

Furthermore I live in the UK so I have to deal with the NHS thats why my care is so rubbish.

Apparently the Extreme-Depression post-sub is the main concern and it stays with for several years if not for nearly all your Life..Man that's scary...

Hi & Welcome,

You were on the Subutex a long time and no matter how far down you taper you will still experience withdrawal. My guess is that you are still feeling the effects while your body and your brain are adjusting. It may take a bit longer for everything to balance out. I will happen so please be patient.

Tell us what symptoms you are feeling and we can suggest some remedies to help ease the process.

Hi and Welcome!  I am sorry you are still suffering...I don't know about subutex but I was on a similar drug before cold turkey called Targin (oxycontin and nalexone) 100 mg.  I have had a long and drawn out detox.  I am at 20 days and finally slept last night.  Still having chills, sweats, and sinus stuff.  It's important to get a good quality multi-vitamin, whey protein shakes, and lots of exercise.  Your brain needs to heal-and everyone's brain is different.  It takes time and patience.  Melatonin and Valerian root are great for anxiety and sleep.  Saint John's Wort helps with depression (naturally boosts epinephrine, norepinephrine, dopamine) which your brain stops producing naturally while on drugs.  The drug treatment centre just gave you an average-you are an individual.  You didn't get sick overnight nor will you heal entirely.  It's a long journey-hang in there and keep posting....Feel better soon....Lu
