Help what should I do for the painful withdrawls?

by mizzrikae, Oct 14, 2009 10:07AM
Hi everyone well this is my first time here and my question is I am currently coming off Norco which is the 10's {vicodine}, I would take 20 a day just to make it through my day and if I didnt take them I just felt like I had no energy and couldnt even barley move. I stopped cold turkey once for about 15 days and then decided to pop three, the guilt I felt was overwhelming. So here I sit working on day 2 again and having horrible pain. My doctor however prescribed me Tegretol which is used for seizures which I dont even have but they seem to help the restlessness some but the pain is so unbareable, anyone have any suggestions on how to ease the pain I feel???

Hello,
I know the quilt of being off the pills for a certain amount if time and relapsing only if it is just a few pills. As for the pain, there is not a lot that can be done but to ride the storm out. I have read something about The Thomas Recipe but don't know much about it. When I got off my pills I went through 4 days of HELL and then it got better each day. Stick it out, A few days of pain is nothing compared to a lifetime of feeling good.

congrats on day 2 and picking yourself up !! Hot baths/showers Motrin and walking/exercise these are all good at helping with the pain. you may have to force yourself but it is worth it. the pain should lessen within the next couple of days. reading the forum offering support is also a good way to distract you from the wd Keep a positive attitude and I wish you well.. lesa

try 800-1000 mgs of ibuprophin,motrin

time is about the only thing that will get rid of the bad wd's. just realize it will eventually go away, but be mentally prepared for a long fight, regardless how long it takes..

Hi all thanks so much for your comments and suggestions that will help me cope a lil better. Its nice to have people who can actually relate I have a terrific supportive family but they really dont know what I am going through, however you all do. Thnaks for your support and advice. Yes, the Thomas Recipe is a good way I have tried some of what he has suggested the hot baths work wonders. So everyone should at least try to go to see  his site it might help for your withdrawls also. Thanks again to everyone, my thoughts and prayers are with you all <3<3<3
