Help with cold turkey

My husband was given two sleeping pills by a Doctor after he was detoxed the week before. She said, there was only a small amount of benzo in them, after he asked if there was any benzo in them and they told him no. Now, 3 months later he is so bad, I think he is dying. Can he start the medicine over now and begin to taper off.  Please help!!

I know that you don't want to hear this, but I think he really needs to see another doctor....someone who will listen to what is going on with him.  He could have a blood clot in his leg or something else that is causing the feet to be cold and legs to hurt.  I'm not trying to scare you, but I don't believe that this happening suddenly after 3 months would be benzo WD unless he has been back on them???

Hi Deb'

Please don't start the medication again after all this time. This isn't withdrawal from 3 months ago.

I'm not going to pretend to know what it is but it certainly isn't benzo withdrawal. It actually sounds like a chronic pain syndrome (or it could also be psychological) which benzos wont help.

Restarting them will only lead to further problems.

You really need a doctors help here.

Take care

Did he detox himself at home? If so, how long was he on them? It is dangerous to detox from benzos on your own and especially to go ct. It should always be done under a doctors supervision.

I do not know of any sleeping pill that contains a benzo but maybe someone else else can come along to help you with that.

To be honest, this whole story sounds strange. I think he needs to find a new doctor and get thoroughly checked out. There are no doctors here so it is difficult to diagnose. Do you have any idea what the sleeping pill was?

My husband detoxed from Ativan and then three days later I took him to the hospital, where they kept him and that night gave him two sleeping pills with benzo in them and it restarted the withdrawal? He has had a head pain, vision problems, dizzy, bowel issues, numness in feet, large veins in legs with pain, cold feet, burning legs. Can't do anything and is in lots of pain. All the Doctors we have seen think it is in his head and that this could not have happened. I was there when it happened, all of a sudden his head felt different and he had a terrific pain then it started hurting and has not stopped.  I have read after a few weeks it is dangerous to restart the medicine but I do not see any other way to help him. Is it to late to reinstate the medicine.
