Help with hydrocodone addiction

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had gotten off of hydrocodone while already having colon problems. The reason why I am asking is I have had problems with my bowels since I was 9 (I am 27 now), when I was 19 I was told that I have a twisted colon, which I never got fixed or anything, (I am trying to research it now, but I get my insurance on Nov. 11th). Anyway, about 4 years ago my mom started giving me vicodin to help with my stomach pains, but I got addicted to them and am now taking way too many and it is just making my stomach worse since narcotics constipate you and that has been my problem all along. I want to know how to get off of these things without being in the excruciating pain because when I stop taking them my stomach is so much worse than an addict with a normal colon or bowels or whatever. I'm scared because it hurts so bad. I have been to the emergency room about 3 or 4 times in the last 2 years and they just keep telling me that I am extremelely backed up. I have almost passed out from the pain. I want to know how to do it safely. I tried the immodium to stop me from having diarrhea because I have extreme pain when I have that too, but i was taking too much immodium and had to go to the hospital for extreme sharp pains. I don't know what to do. Please help.

Thank you everyone for your comments, I guess I am going to have to wait until my insurance kicks in and try an outpatient detox with suboxone. I did it once before but it didn't work because I didn't really want it but I do now. It's just hard because of my already f-ed up colon. I can't wait to be able to get the medicine that I really need and get off these pain meds. But I am also scared about never being able to take narcotics again for pain. Does that ever worry you guys, like what if I get in an accident or something, or what if I do have to have surgery on my colon and afterwards I can't take anything for the pain while I am recouperating. I don't know i guess I worry too much. but thanks again and good luck to everyone who is dealing with this kind of problem.

There really isn't a 'low pain detox" that you can do at home... i wish there was or we would all have done it.. even with tapering there is some degree of diarreah and upset stomach.. consulting a doctor would be your best bet if you want to try to avoid issues with your colon. even some sort of outpatient program

yeah i guess i am but I have tried tapering and i just keep taking too many because I still hurt. I have been in rehab twice, but now I have this new job and I have to keep it, i was unemployed for two years and am just now getting everything back together but I want to get off these, i just don't know how, rehab didn't work for me even though i didn't really try but i want to know and can't go to rehab because of my job. So yeah i guess I am just looking for any kind of help for low pain detox so i can continue to work. Thanks for your help kleen.

Hi Hun!

I am sorry you are in so much pain. I know it is difficult. I suffer with chronic pain also. Are you asking for a way to get off the meds? A tapering perhaps?

Post and explain what it is you need.
