So I've been addicted to tramadol for 2 years and decided to just stop. I want to be healthy again and live my life normal. I've tried quitting cold turkey 2 times. So this time it's strange and I am so happy because I am on day 4 and the only thing I feel is pretty much like if I have a really bad flu but the restless legs are gone. One thing that has helped me was going on klonopin and clonidine. Has this worked for anyone else? I was also wondering when will I start feeling normal.

Hey guys been a while since posting how is everyone?? So I decided to go on Wellbutrin. Has anyone had any experience with that drug? I heard it helps apt with the cravings.....I'm starting on 100mgs a day. Please help with any advice :( my boyfriend came back from New York and he's just made things worse. He's calling me a junkie and fat. I just want something to look forward to to make me feel better which the Wellbutrin comes in. I'm kind if excited to take the pill but I just want to know of it works.

Day 14 as of now! Yaaaay I am having some crazy funny dreams coming off the tram vs when I was on them they were very sad dreams that will just ruin my day. Anywho as far as after care goes I just talk to a friend of mine who's been through it as well. He was hooked on something else and well being the holiday season it's going to get hectic at work so I really don't have time for anything really because I literally live at work :/ but I've been eating healthier as well a lot of bananas and takin. My Celexa and taking b12 as well. Thinking of starting to run hopefully everything lite by little starts to fall into place. Still going through so tough patches that make me want to relapse but these have been the longest 2 weeks of my life I don't want to set back because of one problem. I'm just scared if even if I take one how my body would react to it.

Hey everyone! @buddycrunch how are you doing?? It'll be day 11 in a couple of hours *sighs* I don't know how I feel to be honest I mean I'm so grateful I can sleep. SLEEP HELPS SOO MUCH. My body still aches but I'm not quitting on my recovery I don't want to start ALL OVER AGAIN. IT IS SO PAINFUL AND AWFUL. I just don't understand why I still did it before and fell back knowing I was going to feel the same way after I ran out of my scripts. I'm just so happy I have made it this far. Thank you to all of you for hearing me out no one knows how I feel except you guys.

Dental pain is no joke but taking narcotics isn't usually the answer. Your right clean in ks...that's just old ways of thinking. And you are just getting into your recovery you dont want to start that whole mess again. I had a route canal last summer and the dentist gave me ibuprofen...for a route canal. I though what the heck this isn't going to touch the pain. But it did- it worked well :)

clean_in_ks I could NOT agree more.  Don't fall back on the opiates to treat this condition.  There are a ton of alternatives and those alternatives are what you should be looking into - NOT taking another narcotic to get through this.  It will reactivate your triggers and you're starting all over again.  Not worth it.

You're doing well - keep going!

Agree wholeheartedly with selfinduced!  I have had many dental issues since abusing this body for so long.  Since I'm clean 143 days and refuse to take an opiate/narcotic pain med for ANY condidition I have dealt with any tooth pain similarly to selfinduced.  So to relieve pain until I had the physcial wherewithal to GO to the dentist, and PAY for the dentist, I used the generic brand of orajel.......it really works!  I had to put it on alot but it still helped with the pain.  So did taking an anti-inflammatory.

The listerine cleanses and disinfects the gum tissue, the orajel helps to numb the pulsing pain, and any otc anti-inflammatory rounds that out until you can get to the dentist and get relief. For ME, instantly thinking of taking a tram or a hydro to relieve the pain was just "old" thinking.  "Gotta have a pill to get thru any discomfort, any pain, and I can't make it without a pain pill"  YES I CAN.  AND I DO....It isn't even an option for me right to take a tram or hyrdo or oxy.

You said you didn't understand how you can w/d, then take "some", then go back and w/d.  At least I think that's what you meant.
You pain receptors KNOW if there is a narcotic binding to them.  And they are reawakened when you take ANY opiate.

Hope you will try all the non-narcotic ways to deal with this......and hopefully can get to the dentist.  Taking "just one" of anything is repeating old behaviors and in recovery we need to be willing to try new ways of dealiing with all of life.  You CAN do it!

Awesome,
Yesterday took 3 trams, way less than prescribed on the lable, "1 to 2 every four  hours as needed for pain".  Never accomplished getting my loader back home to work on.  Wasted day, this morning i sit here with tremors, (thats something i had but using made them stop), very very slight WD/craving, not having the bathroom issue.  My ribs are feeling better and wife hid or took the bottle. so i'm back on the wagon, at least we didn't get the snow that was forcast for two days.

An infected tooth is one of the most painful issues, get it checked ASAP.  You may need a hydro to get through a night of waiting.then go back to starving those lil' opiate receptors.  Don't awaken them.

Hi Iama, Just thought I'd chime in on your tooth pain dilemma if you haven't solved it yet. I too had a horrible toothache over the summer and didn't want to go on pain meds. Although I was rinsing with salt water, using heat pads taking antibiotic's it was getting worse. A member on here told me to gargle with listerine and coat my gum with orajel and it helped TERMENDOUSLY until I was able to get it fixed. Not sure if this helps, but it was a God sent for me. YAY on 10 days!!!

Hey buddy hope you're doing better! It'll be day 10 tomorrow and I've been getting a tooth pain and like I said I was just wondering if I were to take the tram just for that one day would the wds come back? I just don't understand how like we wait and like we take some and like when you stop the withdrawals come back. :(

Pat knows me so well!   I tkink she  understands all of us so much better.  Where I have a problem with those who are are not at the same place as myself in recovery,  I see by rereading posts from the previous day, how emotions control my perspective.   How just one PM can put me in a good mood, or a post from a new poster who appears to suggest they have it all figured out will recieve the wrath of one who has spent over 30 yrs in the battle.  It's a disease that thrives on overconfidence,  Not curable but can be kept in remission if vigilant.  I am very open, sometimes that does not come off as well as my intended concerns might have with a smoke screen & sneak message. I'm still learning the mod rules, and to respect members who have opposite opinions.    PMs are a great way to support and discuss opposing viewpoints of members, I'm open to both..

It's just scary how you think if I only take one tram you'd be able to handle then come 2 then 3 then you're back to square 1 it freaking ***** that's how I relapsed I thought I could handle it. I just like to think of
It as a small road block and then it's the rest of your life. You're suffering for a short amount of time and then it's the rest of your life. I just can't believe how drs look at me crazy even in the ers they look at me crazy because they say tramadol is none addicting. Just curious so even if you take one lets say...will it give you the same w/d symptoms all over again????

My Dr will only give me Trams and when I ran out, it was worse than the Norco.   20 isn't alot, but my concern is that even with 60 days, your mind will remember the opiate like feeling it produces and could possibly re trigger your addiction.  Everytime I have gotten clean time behind me and tried even evil tram, I found myself buying Norco again and away I went.  Please be careful Buddy.

I learned what wd was with tramadol! I took them for 2 months several years ago for a injury. All the doctor told me was " there non narcotic". Ya right, when I ran out I had the worst wd that I have every had. I guess not tapering and taking 6+ a day kinda shocked my system! I didn't sleep for 2 days then felt like crap for a week or two. I didn't even know about wd till I looked it up on the net. Lol. Coming off oxy at 90-120 mg for a year was nothing compared to the tramadol. I would never take that again. If you take them just be careful because there bad news also. Best of luck!

I am so sorry to hear that :( I find myself having bad luck when like things happen on a weekend and I have to wait and it is just tough. But you are strong and I know it's cold but just try to push through I know you can do it next thing you'll know you will be be talking to your doctor. I just how the mind is with us sometimes it know a when we are weak and yeah.  As far as your question goes I would be afraid to take them don't set yourself back any little thing can cause major affect if you can't handle the pain I just go to the er I know they have something non narcotic just like teresa717 said. That's what scares me it's like what happens when you get really hurt now what? Stupid opiates. It's kind of like a paradox. @teresa717 I am so happy for
You I can't wait to be like you in 20 more days. What have you been doing to to be awesome.

Buddy, Im so sorry you hurt youreself yesterday. Im glad it wasnt anything horribly serious! My advice, Stay far away from those Trams!! 20 is not alot, and yes they will help some but IMO not worth taking the risk! Can you ask your Dr. about toradol?? I blew my knee out about  aweek ago and the Toradol has helped me with that. That and Ibuprofen.

I know everyone on here says when you have an acute injury, you dont need to be in pain and taking opiates or narcotics sometimes is necessary and doesnt necessarily mean you have relapsed I absolutely agree but for me personally, I would take norcos again before I took Trams!

Fell better Buddy!!

Day 8 is great!! Remember Tramadol is not a fun drug to come off of and for me anyways, the bad w/d's lasted longer than when coming off Norcos.  Im just so happy that your pushing through this and you were able to fight through to cancel that script! I have high hopes for you :)

I am doing good (to answer your question) :)  Im on day 28 today  and as my status saus, I feel fanfreakingtastic! hahaha

Keep going! Your doing great!

Rough, these are the things that will happen and do challenge us.

broke axel on skidloader yesterday afternoon, it upset, i took terrible tumble.  Drew a large crowd,  Refused ambulance.  Pain sit in, been up since mid night.  called in, being red fagged, non-narcotic,.... hahaha they sold us 20 trams.   WTH?   I know their horror stories.     Wife sat out 2, don't know where the rest are.  Don't even think will help.  They didn't think i'd have problems with only 20. Can't talk to my shrink by phone until monday.

I got to get busy fixen it away from home in the cold, very stiff & sore, downright depressed and tired.
