Hi there. We all, as addicts want to find any method we can to detox  w/o having to feel any discomfort. Unfortunately, it does not work that way. All you are doing is "kicking the can down the road" if you use that patch. You will STILL have to detox off that, and you will have wasted all that time when you could have been clean and getting used to living life w/o opiates.

40 mgs of oxy isn't THAT much. Many have detoxed from much much higher. You say you get stuck at 40mg. I'm guessing you are too uncomfortable and then take more? You can cold turkey from 40mg but you have to get rid of your stash and any access to more. Rip that bandaid off. There is a woman on here, who pops up occasionally and has been trying to taper for over 4 YEARS. She refuses to get rid of her supply and is going in circles. It's a week or so of intense discomfort and then it slowly gets better.

Let us know more about you. I know you wanna be free of those devils, being a slave to pills SU** as you know.  Welcome and write back:)

Norspam is known in the states as buprenorphine.  Buprenorphine will work to stop withdrawals.  It does so because it's an extremely powerful opiate.  Most of us here would consider it a 'last resort' for opiate dependence and addiction.  It has a history of being extremely hard to get off of.  In fact, if you can't maintain a taper schedule it can be nearly impossible to stop using.  People here have stopped while on high doses but it's the exception not the rule.  I was in treatment for a year and my taper took 6 months.  I would suggest you research this drug very carefully before using it.  As for how to quit OxyContin without using buprenorphine, others here will be along soon with suggestions for you.  The group here is knowledgable and experienced in addiction and recovery.  You'll get better advice here then you will from many doctors.
