Here's a gross question for ya... It is drug related

I know this is a sick topic but I know everyone goes through this at some point.  If you read my latest post you know that I am 21 hours into my withdrawls from Oxycodone 10mg.  Here's my disturbing question... Obvioiusly we get the "runs" when we stop cold turkey (why do they call it that anyway)?  I''ve got the runs and it's just plain ol' disgusting.  Should it be a dark green, almost black color?  Yuck.... I know, I know, I know.  Sorry.  Just had to ask.

No sweat, no strain.......just sit and let it drain.....the runs..lol  Anyway, on a serious note take immodium it is essential.  If it is still black and I mean tarry black that may not be a good thing, but I think you may be ok.  do the immodium so you can get a solid poopy and see how black it really is......its hard to tell when its  a lot of liquid.  Congrats on 21 hours.  I'ts gonna get worse so be prepared.  lots of fluid....stay away from juices like apple juice or grape juice as they cause more diarrhea.  Just plain water maybe with a slice of fresh ginger for stomach upset.  Good luck my friend.  I wish you all the best.

Yeah... see that's the thing.  I'm taking multi-vitamins (Centrum), potassium pills, and Immodium (store brand).  I took to of the Immodium this morning but it hasn't touched this stuff.

sometimes you have to take more frequently.....ive read up to 3 tabs 3x day.....I would double check that with the pharmacist.  you can call one anonymously and tell them what your going through.  Good luck, hun.

I'm tapering off the same drug as you but have not quit cold turkey. It would be a help to me as to what other things you are going thru, so I can prepare when I stop.

Well so far it's just been the typical stuff.  I went to bed last night at around 11:00pm.  My last dosage was a half a pill and that was at 1:00 yesterday afternoon so I went to bed approximately 10 hours after my last half a pill.  I had a total of 25mg's when my body was used to having 60mg's.  

Last night was horrible.  I took a benadryl and half a Tylenol PM to make sure I went to sleep.  I went to sleep just fine but woke up at 1:48am and had a very difficult time going back to sleep.  I had a little anxiety, sweats, chills, the runs, and a feeling of exhaustion.  

Nothing's really gonna prepary you for this C RUD.  It's awful.  I don't know why I keep letting myself go through this misery.

Well since I have two little ones I happen to be a poop expert, lol. Well not really but when you have to deal with poop on a daily basis like this you really know your sh*t so to speak, LOL. I do know that color can not only mean something you ate but mainly the color generally has to do with what stage of digestion it was in when expelled. I think green means the feces was still very early in the digestion stage and had not yet had time to darken up to look normal. THat is what my doctor told me when I was concerned with my little ones green poopies he was making, lol.  I know this is a totally different situation obviously, but probably the same rules apply. As someone else stated above, if they are black and tarry, that can mean a serious problem (internal bleeding). But just stay on the Immodium, give it a longer time to work and see if things improve for you...good luck.

(I cant believe I just sat here typing up a whole paragraph about poop, LOL)

not a gross question..lol we all go through it..ARe you taking pepto ?.once i brought my oldest in because her stool was black..I was so nervous..Come to find out the doctor said if she is taking pepto it will be black...And she was.
So i looked it up on the internet, and the number one reason on the site i was on for black stool, was pepto!!

Let all those toxins come out!

Mine was exactly as you described yours, and I stayed close to the toilet for 12 days. Still have occasional now on day 18.  Oh the garbage that must be lingering in my liver and kidneys. Gross subject but I'm glad I wasn't the one to have to bring it up. LOL

Oh what fun, everyone talking about "the runs". Yeah, if your going through withdrawls, your gonna get um. I myself did not use the Immodium. But thats me..I think if your body is trying to get rid of somthing...let it go. The sooner the toxins are outta me, the sooner I'll feel better. Actually I did try the Immodium 1 day and my stomach turned into a bubbling caldron, not very comfortable either. Alot of people do use it though. Do what you feel is best for you.   But, yes it is a normal part of the withdrawls. If your taking vitamins,proteins drinks etc. etc, (which you should be) your poops may be just a rainbow a fantastic colors!

By the way trout, your question about cold turkey - it refers to the cold sweats and "goose bumps" you can get in w/d, similar feeling to a "cold turkey" cacrass like you might have in your refrigerator in a week or so!  At least that's what I think.....

Oh my gosh flmagi!  You made me left out loud!  A rainbow of fantastic colors!  We have the same sense of humor.  It's more of a leprachaun colored rainbow though and not nearly the same shape.  :)  Now that was funny!
