Heriditary?

I am a recoverying Meth addict but have done other drugs too. Clean over a year now. My son's biological father was an addict alcoholic. How likely is it that my son would have the same problem? He is only four now but should I teach him to never drink? Not sure what the right course of action is.

I believe that we are pre-disposed. Now is a good a time as any to teach him not to drink...for so many reasons!!

We as parents lead by example and I'm sure all us addicts have blown that to a degree but your son is very young and will watch you closely for what to do. I believe your continued sobriety is the first right course of action and congratulations on over a year sober. I agree with ibkleen that we are pre-disposed and teaching him not to drink at a young age would be great.
