Hi All,
I have been addicted to pain meds for almost 7 yrs, I have taken everything from Meth, Oxycontin, Vic, Perc, Roxy etc. I never shot anything but I did snort some of them. The last year was the worst, I would snort 3 80's (Oxy) plus a few Roxy's in 1 day and I would still feel like I needed more. I spent a crazy amount of money and lost 7 yrs of my life on that garbage. I started because of a jetski accident which herniated 2 disks in my back. I started off small with 1 Vic. every 6-8 hours and went up from there. I went to a Meth. clinic and that turned out to the be the 2nd biggest mistake in my life, I started at 45 mg of meth and went up to 90mg in 2 months. Long story short I tapered down on the meth and got off of it when I hit 20 mg, then started the pills again.
One of the several Doctors I was shopping told me if I ever had a problem with the pain pills he would help me out with this new medicine called Suboxene. The way Sub. was explained to me was like this. If you drink Coke every day and the Dr. says you need to stop you can do 1 of these options. You can drink Pepsi, Diet Pepsi or quit cold turkey. Cold Turkey I couldn't do it. Pepsi would be your Methadone, it's **** and doesn't help you!!!!(at least not me). Diet Pepsi, tastes the same but only 1 calorie. In other words your body think it's getting what it needs but it really isn't.
The Dr. told me I had to be clean 24 hours before I started the Sub. so of course 2:00pm the day before I had an appointment at the Dr. office I decided to go out with a bang which ended up being a bad mistake. Since I took so many pills the day before the Dr appt. and took the Sub. I went into a hyper withdrawal. I started vomiting, huge headache, dizzy etc. The Dr. gave me a shot for the vomiting and a pill to help me sleep. The next day I went back to the Dr. office took the next pill and felt like a $1,000,000 bucks!! I felt great and had no w/d symptons. Sub. saved my life and my friends life. I had a friend that took Sub the day after me and felt great 30 minutes after taking the Sub.We were both taking the same amount of pain meds before the Sub. He is now living his life again with his wife and 2 kids. Don't waste any more time by taking Meth.or any other pills, find a Dr. in your area and get help. I hope this helps someone, I have been clean since January 3rd 2007!!

Go to my question on free suboxone!

Hi this is pre-written for new people… hope this helps:

It’s good to come clean with your doc concerning your desire to get off.  Ask him to prescribe clonidine, (not klonopin), and ativan.  These will help with sleep, RLS and anxiety.  These are best to try before formal detox and drugs like Suboxone.  I had to do formal detox because I tried everything else, including alcohol to get off and nothing worked for me.  Keep in mind that when you try… make it a good one!  Have some time off of work if you can… maybe a four day weekend or more.  Make the last day of work without any drugs, because the first day is usually the easiest.  Try your best to get clean and stay clean because the other methods require more potent drugs and you have to come off of those.  I am still on Suboxone and am a little worried about that… It does work well but the jury is out on, “At what Cost.”  I also learned while in detox, that the mind can psychosomatically create pain to “get’ the drug.  Another was that healing while using opiates greatly diminishes.  I would have sores on my hands that would take way too long to heal.
Best
Fish
I have to say this from the bottom of my heart,  Please do not keep playing around with these drugs they are very powerful ….. kinda like heroin in a pill and just as hard to get off once you attain the, "addicted" status.

If you cannot give up Heroin ,you will never get off Methadone,If the Heroin is pure and cheap,do it until you are bored with the feelings and ups and downs, but please try to stop as well.if the heroin is expensive and dirty and you are hurting yourself,go on methadone ASAP.
When it is all said and done you will be back to where you started,ie someone who is about to use Heroin(actually I do not like the word, lets just call it an Opiate),so what was up with your life that you wanted to eliminate your emotions?.
Try to keep away from people that use.
Life is hard enough with a Heroin Habit, try to get things under control now, some people spin out of control on Opioids, like they start doing crime to get their Drug of choice.
I used Heroin daily for 3 months and stopped about a month ago,I know the hold it gets on you and I know how silly it all seems when it loses its grip, but you have to have something to return to.If you are happy in life before then thats what you return to.
I stopped because the person who was providing it to me went away,I wanted to stop at times because of the money, not much $25-a day and I was on the nod.I started because I enjoy the feeling and it was home delivered cheap.
But I think I like the feeling of being straught more.
Horny,Hungry, thinking ,doing ,living, feeling, breathing, its no trade for that monotonous Euphoria.
I live on my own and own my home, and do not work. I think that makes it easy to be in a take it or leave it situation.
Opioids will either make you or break you,the journey is not over until you close your eyes for the last time.
Do not waste to much of the journey,I am sure GOD gave your soul a reason for existing in the body that you think you are.

I can only imagine your predicament if all the local detoxes are filled....generally the sad truth is you may have to wait.... so get on the lists NOW. In the meantime go to a methadone clinic and see if you are a candidate. Often they take the long term users who have tried everything else.... I don't know what they will suggest if you are a "beginner".... at the very least they may have more detox suggestions for you and maybe they can guide you to the buprenorphine detox if there is a free program that uses it. You will at least be in touch with a counselor who can try to find the best available option for you at this time. Also make sure you have tried calling these detox centers yourself.... if your friends said they are all filled they may be incorrect. Call all the 800 numbers listed as community substance abuse programs. So you know ..... there is no magic here....after detox you really should start out with the LONGEST term programs available... most addicts and families know that 28 days is hardly ever enough..after many relapses and much suffering addicts finally learn that 28 days is not enough... so start good from the beginning.. most cities have Phoenix House which is between 12 and 18 months. An example of community programs.... in Tampa, Florida is a 6 month program, in St.Petersburg is an 18 month program and the Florida Addictions Center near Sebring is 2 months followed by a mandatory 3 month sober house. Most sober houses cost but you are encouraged to work and pay the rent which is usually reasonable. You are living in a structured house with other recovered people who support eachother.... this is a very good step back into the world.... so add it to your program list... detox, long term treatment and sober living house which is also called half way house I think. God bless you... and please get to work on this ... you can e-mail me at ***@****   if I can assist you. Brighty

Methadone is a good thing to stabilize you until you get better physically.  You can work, go to school, and feel and act normal.  Then check into detox on buprenorphine at 30 mg. methadone -- or accupuncture (it works!)  But nothing will help long-term if you are not committed and in a sober-living/rehab environment including counseling and meetings -- this has to become a life's work.

My daughter aged 23 used for 6 years (heroin) and was a mess.  She was either foing to clean up or go to jail.  She did the Ultra Rapid Opiate Detox procedure through Cedars-Sinai hospital in L.A. -- the CITA program, but because of the backlog we went to Lincoln hospital in Phoenix.  It cost $8,000.  She then went through the McDonald Center at Scripps Hospital in San Diego.  That was probably the best thing we could have done for the counseling and relapse prevention.  It is a 4 week stay.

My daughter has been on and off methadone before the McConald Center, and always did well on it, but no rehabs in San Diego will accept someone on methadone.  Cost of sober living homes is based on ability to pay, or free, through the County Health and Human Services Department.  They also offer detox  -- free.

Good Luck.

You are in a really bad place my friend but if you are sincere and really do want to get clean things will begin to look up for you.  You can try Methadone.  I don't know what state you are in but where I live we have an Outpatient Clinic frequently referred to as the Methadone Clinic which is free to those who qualify.  It might help you to know you are not alone.  Once you get on the methadone you will need intensive outpatient counseling and 12 step meetings.  Your counselor will help you along.  Methadone alone is not the route to go for most people.  It is the combination of these things that help.  The methadone clinic will then determine when to start lowering your dose and try to wean you off the methadone.  Whatever you decide you have to remember that the key to all of it is the Willingness.  You say you have lost everything.  You can and will lose more than what you already have lost.  You do need help and fast....Please, try not to do the cold turkey dance.  It can be very dangerous.  People in your situation need medically monitored detox.  Let me know how you are doing and good luck.   ***@****
