First off try not to worry about what is going to happen there will be times you need pain meds you will figure it out when the time comes. At first when we first stop taking pain meds our pain seems worse but that is because you body wants its fix .With time you pain level tends to become less then it was when you were on PM.There will be time when you wont have a choice but to take meds for short periods of times. I have had surgery there was NO way I could have done it with PM I put a plan in action with my doctor pharmacist and my family I did not pic up the  meds and didn't see the bottle  They were given to me by my hubby. My doctor only have me small amount and I found after the first 2 or 3 days advil and a heating pad did the trick .Try not to worry until the problem arises you will work threw it.

I'm trying to figure that out myself (but before I go off the meds.)  Have you checked out the pain management forum here?  Have you ever been to a headache clinic to get to the root of why you get them.  Were you prescribed oxycontin for the headaches?  (If you were, I find it interesting.  I'm on oxycontin as well as other things, but whenever I get a headache (which isn't often,) I have to take good old ibuprofen for that.  The oxys don't help my headaches at all.

Have you seen a pain management doctor for your headaches?  The are brutal.  I used to get migraines until I had my first baby and then they went away.  They've since come back but very rarely.

If you haven't done a lot of research on it yet, a good place to start is a headache diary.  Try to see what associations there are when you get them; food, stress, wine, cheese, chocolate, lack of sleep.  Or there may be nothing that correlates with it.  But it's a start.

Caffeine sometimes helps, as well as ice packs.  There are also some non-narcotic medications that are used for bad headaches and migraine.

Your best bet though is to see a doctor, preferably one who specializes in headaches.  Best of luck.

Headaches are a common withdrawal symptom. They get better with time. Take Tylenol or other OTC pain meds as needed, but sparingly. They can cause rebound headaches.

I'm on day # 9 from oxyodone. This is my 2nd go around. First time on 10-12 30mg./daily and it took almost 30 days to recover. Withdrawls included hallucinations, upset stomache, cold sweats, no appetite what so ever and sever pain! The addict in me toldmyself I could control the ammount I was taking and start using once again. I've been using approx. 31/2 months and once again found myself losing mins.,hrs.,and even days - time to stop completely before I forget life. Anyone out there got an idea how much longer will I go through withdrawls?

It was the pain and headache drs. that got me hooked on the oxy.  I think I've tried every other type of relief there is... gone thru physical therapy, neck massages and exercises, shots in the neck, like novocaine, and nothing seemed to help.

there's nothing in particular that causes the headaches that I've been able to pinpoint through all these years, and that stinks.

So now, I'm trying to get through this by taking Excedrin Migrane (migraine), and it's probably helping a bit, but this headache is such a killer, I'm at a loss.  I'm using an ice pack on my neck also right now to try to numb it.

Sometimes my heart starts  beating fast from the Excedrin, and my breath gets short, and there's a couple of times that I've almost called an ambulance.  At this point, I don't know if going to the hospital would help or not.  I'm just in so much pain now I don't know what to do.

Good luck, I agree with another poster that oxy doesn't help me with headaches at all, the best I've found is excedrin. I took so much so long that I now have a hiatal hernia and will probably take nexium for life. But if you only take it for headaches { I was using it a lot for back pain] you be ok. Another post said keep a diary, that is key to finding your headache triggers, it's a ***** but that's what it takes to find out what food[s] are causing it. I am almost and sometimes am embarassed to share this but it's also what I taught my kids growing up. Most often when they would get a headache the problem was they needed to have a bowel movement! It's a fact! Our bodies take nutrition thru our colon/intestinal walls and when we don't move properly, than that's what our bodies are consuming thru the intestinal wall, feces! Everybody needs more water and for especially narcotic users MORE FIBER! That's one of the worst things for me, oxy is so constipating, I and lot's of other's have many of your symtoms (symptoms). Good going on being oxyclean!

And everyone thinks I'm in a bad mood...I'm not, I just don't have allot to say...You know what I mean.
And your head is the reason I wrote...Sorry that I went on and on..But I have gotten more headaches almost a migraine which I have never gotten. SO I think its all pretty Norm...
