How can I get off of Fentanyl?

I have been on Fentanyl for almost 2 years, 100ug every 72 hours.  I find that I have been replacing the patch every two days, which results in running out.  I try to tell myself that I am going to run out, but I do it anyway - Is this normal, or am I crazy?  I don't like the addiction, the strongest meds I took before the patch was ibuprofen.  I had surgery on my neck in 2008 and it seems to have created new equally as painful issues.  A nerve slipped and wrapped around one of the discs and now the nerve has been fuzed into the bone and hurts all of the time.  I am losing the ability to use my right hand.  I can't miss any work and I don't know how to get off of the patch without getting sick.  I am so depressed and just thinking about how to function without the pain meds and with the pain creates anxiety.  Has anyone been through this and do you have any suggestions that can help to eliminate the anxiety?

welcome here :)

i don't have experience with fentanyl but i wanted to welcome you here and bump your post so someone will come and help you... i don't want your post to get overlooked !!!!!!!!!!!

as for the anxiety, i know it is hard when you are going through the situation you are experiencing right now but try to work on those catastrophic thoughts that are coming to your mind when you think of your fears and what you have ahead....face each one with some constructive thoughts, don't run away from them, face them with positive thinking... ... People have got off the patches so you will be able to do it too and it might take some time but you will find other ways and help with your medical problem.... try to breath very very slowly ( 5 seconds inspiration, 10 seconds expiration).... the breathing exercises really help to calm down ourselves, concentrate only on breathing.... even eating an apple very slowly and focusing only on eating it could help to alleviate those moments.....

ok, i really hope that someone can help you with the patches but be patience cause weekends are sometimes slow... All the best :)
