How does a typical Methadone clinic work?

For those who haven't read my posts, I've been taking Methadone since last August.  Good news is that it's kept me completely clean from other opiates...  Bad news is that it has now gotten it's "hook" in me, as I was warned.  For months I was taking 10-20mg, but after some typical life problems it's crept up to 50mg-70mg for the last 4 weeks.  The 'druggie' behavior is basically back.  I can admit it.

I want to go to a legitimate clinic to get the help I need, and stop getting the Methadone from a 'friend'...  How do they work?  My sub Dr. got raided by the DEA for letting too many people have their sub at home, so he's out..  There is a Methadone Clinic about a half hour away....  Thank you for the help!!

I really do want sobriety

hey dude good to see you back...was wondering where you have been and how your doing? well to go to the clinic you just have to go in and tell them your story yours will qualify for treatment depending on circumstances they will usually start you out at 30ml but in your case because of illicit use you may get more to start with ...they will move you up to a comfortable dose slowly ...my advise is only take what you absolutely need to get by on...and start to taper off as soon as you can...tapering is a very slow process it will take months to get off it but if sobriety is what your after you can be weened off methadone...its kinda a drag having to go into the clinic every day but it regulates your dose the problem with the clinics are they tend to move people up to higher doses then necessary to make them life long customers so its up to you to watch out how high a dose you wind up on...again go into it with the thought of beeing weened off and they can step you down gradually...there is no painless way to get off this stuff ...tapering comes with its discomforts but im living proof it can be done today I got 150 days clean from a 6 1/2 yr methadone habit .....so just go in and get on the program it will cost you around 60 bucks a week (in Arizona) the price verys from state to state but should be similar....you could be off it in about 4 or 5 mo if you start to taper right away but first they need to stabilize you at a dose that your comfortable with  ....good luck and God bless....Gnarly

i was on a clinic in mass for about 6 years..initially you have to go in every single day to get dosed,i believe you get 1 take home after 90 days...you have to go to their counselor 1xweek and do random urines once a week.after 6 months you get 2 take homes, the longer you are clean, the more take homes you earn, but in mass the most you can get is 14..dont feel bad..your dose isnt that high..the clinic i was on kept putting my dose up because i told them i just didnt feel right...believe it or not,i was up to 350 mg daily...i eventually got down very slowly, and eventually got it when i was at about 100mg because the insurance wouldnt pay anymore.i went on subox for about a month but it didnt help,i was violently ill.it didnt help that i had pancreatitus the same time cuz i was drinking way too much....hope this gives you some info
