How long before normal sleep returns

How long before normal sleep returns

I am on day 6 of being opiate free.  I worked a 12 hour shift last night and only slept 2 1/2 hours today.  How long before I can sleep normally and how bad is this on my body.  Also has anyone the reverse effectsd of tlyenol pms.  I took 3 this morning and didnt help.  I'm really tired and I have to work again tonight.  I've laid around all day but cant go to sleep. How long can you go without real sleep?  Can anyone reccomend anything?

There are some natural sleep remedies...herbs such as lemon balm, kava kava, valerian root and melatonin.  With that...you need to take it and go lasy down in a dark room...that is the only way melatonin is processed to work properly...
There are many people who have lots of info., I am sure something will work soon.  It will continue to improve each day.
Stay strong and keep posting.  Great job on 6 days...that is awesome!!!

I had a HUGE issue with this.  I did not sleep at all for somewhere betwn 11-13 days.  After that, it came in doses of 15 min. a night awakening me with really bad anxiety.  I DID have the reverse effects of the Tylenol PM, as well as every o-t-c there is to take.  Benadryl was the worst, but they all were bad, and then I had to wait out getting the **** out of my blood stream.  It was rough for me and it made it harder to deal with the physical and emotional side of things.  I'd have to check back in my journal, but eventually sleep started to come a little bit more, but I finally asked for some Ambien CR towards, what was probably the end of what was the worst.  It will come, and it isn't fun, I know, but it will pass.

For me it took months for my full normal sleep to return. I did use Ambien for several months but I found out after that is is highly addictive so I hate to recomend that but I can't go long without sleep and if you are working 12 hour shifts I suggest you get something from your doctor and only take every once in a while. Do Not take anything every day. And yes, I tried the tylenol PM and during WDs it made my heart race more than it already was. We are all different and have different reactions to meds so it a lot depends on each person. Sleep and energy are the last things to return to normal usually

I am on day 8 Cold Turkey from Soma/Vicodin for 7 years and what I use to help with sleep is an over the counter sleep aid called Unisom. My Pharmacist told me that was the safest and best thing on the market and NOT addicting at all. So that's what I use and it seems to give me at least 6 hours of straight sleep. I am retired now so sleep is not really a problem as it would be if I HAD to get up for work. Now I just get up to hang out with my 3 year old grandbaby. :) Hope this helps. Precious
