not as addictive? it does not really work that way . I would discuss NAISDs with your doctor and maybe a muscle relaxer .you will find over time your pain with get better right now it really bad because your body wants it drugs ...I know some use lidocaine patches as well stay away from tramadol even if the tell you its not addictive it is .. stay strong..
Thank you for your encouragement! GREATLY appreciated! I'd like to ask my doctor for something else for the pain (L5 slipped and 3&4 ? car accident) what could I ask for that is either non or not as addictive as this Norco? I do need something for the pain. I work sitting down all day. I am 36 and have never taken anything but asprin or birth control prior to this, and I've gotten dependent or addicted REAL fast to these. I am a hyper anxiety type person anyways and these pills have turned me into what feels like a walking heart attack if I don't take a little more and then another halk to where I'm up to 3 and could easily keep going if I don't reduce and detox like I've been trying to do.
Again, any knowledge and or experience is appreciated!
I'm on day 7 of no norco and the sleep thing is the hardest. I've delt with it before during my pregnancy for that first 3 months until my dr got me into pain mgmt...
I'm still currently dealing w/insomnia and take Unisom or the generic equivalent of sleepgels. no tylenol so less risk of problems for your liver.
Melatonin doesn't do much for me but the sleep DOES come back slowly but surely. my norco intake on my bad pain days was pretty high. I'm thinking about 24-30. I also had days where 1 or 2 would work...
Welcome to the forum, the other posters are right with their advice and it will get better. How many days are you off them now? How many were you taking per day? Melatonin worked for me to help with sleep, but not for everyone, but worth a try. Also, if you look in the top right of this page, you will see health pages and in there is the thomas recipe. That can help ease w/d's a bit if your still w/ding? Also the amino acid protocal in there is good too, check it out. Best of luck and stick around here, it's a great support group.
Lucinda,I have been coming off of a Norco dependency of a very high dosage(20+ a day for over a year) and it took me 2 weeks to get even 3-4 hours of sleep. I went 5 solid days and nights with less than 1.5 hours of sleep over that time and it was horrible. But your body is detoxing from a very strong opiate and it will take time for your body to compensate for the loss of the meds. I wish I could tell you how long it's going to last for you but as our bodies are all different,it will not be the same as someone elses time that they had severe insomnia. I can tell you that it does get better and I am down to 2 pills a day and my sleep has gotten much better as my body heals. Melatonin from GNC worked a little and I took 9mg's nightly. I hope that helps but hang in there and your body will adjust and it will go to sleep when it absolutely has to. We are here for you so feel at home and feel free to write back anytime.
I am so proud of you for getting clean. Way to go !!!!!!!!!
you are on the right path so keep your eye on the prize.
Afterall, you don't own the disease you own the recovery

Like avis said -it wont last forever.. And, unfortunately we have all been through it. Try some OTC remedies to help - maybe benadryl or tylenol pm. Lots of people say Melatonin and/or Valerian root work.. It's exhausting, but little by little your sleep cycle will return to normal. Good luck and hang in there.
can last a few days to a few weeks everybody is diffrent .It happens because your body becomes dependent on the med so when you take it away it reacts ..that where the restless and lack of sleep comes it does not last forever .you will get threw it
