How long will it take for the withdrawls to subside from Percocets?

I am on day two of being off Percocets.  I have been on them for about 3 years for chronic knee pain.  I have had three knee surgeries in two years, and my last one has done a number on my leg.  I now have 8 screws a hinge and a plate in my knee...and I am in constant agony.  I work as a nurses aide taking care of the sick elderly and the work load is heavy.
Today seems to be better then yesterday but I am scared what to feel like the rest of the week.  Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas to help get me through these tough times ahead?  I am in a great need of support as my friends and family don't understand what it is I am going through.

thanks

Hi,

I detoxed off heroin, several times.  Am clean now.

The withdrawal is similar to percs.

Took 5 days for the worst of it, then it started to get better. By 10 days, the detox was done.

Dealing with the mental obsession to use is the other half of the battle.  Mental obseesion coupled with physical cravings.

Hang in there, you can do it ! Message me anytime if you want some support.
Hugs from Darlene

Lots of hot showers or baths will help.  Taking some good vitamins is another.  Drink plenty of liquids and try to get some food down.  You can get thru this.  Getting clean is the easy part, staying clean is the hard one.  Check into some aftercare as that is very vital to our success in recovery.       Congrats on day 2!!!!

Congrats on day 2 !!!!!   I posted alot in wds and read alot of posts to remember what I dont want to go through again.  Withdrawals were horrible for me. But this forum helps alot. I used microwavable discs to put in my clothing when I couldnt be in hot water. I took long walks even though it hurt everywhere.  I take aleve or IBprophen. whatever is overthe counter. They work after you are some time away from the narcotics.

Hang in there hun. It seems like such a long road, and the pain at times seems to make us want to run back, but just hand in there. I say this to you, but also to myself. The pain I am in as well since being off (day 6 today) is, at times, unbearable. They have some heat pads that wrap around your knees I've seen in the phamacy. Today, I used a back wrap one, it helped a little. Advil doesn't seem to cut it, but I keep telling myself, day by day:) The vitamins and minerals and fish oils along with B complex is a good idea. Don't  give up. I'm here any time you need anything:)
