Well let's just say I should have probably limited myself to cardio. I did some light lifting and no matter how light I thought it was...it caught up with me today. Lesson learned. Future reference to all...don't try and be a hero and stick to cardio. Protein shakes + Xience energy drinks=day 4...maybe some cardio.
Wow great job on going to the gym! That is really good I don't think I could do an hour and a half right now and I am almost at a month. Keep up the good work!
Keep up the great job friend !! Yes it is surely from withdrawal
I've read that a runny nose is a symptom of detox but out of nowhere mine started running halfway through the day today...like a faucet. Anyone know how long that lasts? or I might actually be getting sick....although I'm not coughing. who knows, but what I do know is that this s h i t is getting old in a hurry and I want it to go away soon. at least his the gym again today for an hour and a half.
It's day three (or 5...not sure if you count the days of tapering with suboxone) and I'm progressively getting better. Still low on energy but now my hips, and legs are sore and killing me. I've stretched twice already today and not quite sure what else to do? I'm going to try and go to the gym and go for a walk again....followed by a hot shower. I know there's no way I'm turning back to pain meds again but there is strong temptation to turn to them for pain relief right now....but I fully understand that it would mean I would have to start all over again and I would be missing the whole point of going through all of this...pretty much I would be an idiot. I gotta get up and go for a walk before I sleep my day away.
I'm actually relaxing in bed. I took 2 1mg ativans so I'm relaxing in bed. I stretched before I got into bed so I hope the RLS doesn't kick in. I've been doing everything the best to my ability to get through this the quickest and least painful. I'm hoping tomorrow I'll feel good tomorrow, there will be life back in me, I can go to the gym....etc. But I completely understand that it may not happen, and if it doesn't, I'll deal with it. well I'm going to try and get some sleep....talk to you guys in 20 mins.
That's awesome that you went to the gym. Good for you!! I think that if you get out and exercise in the beginning of detox; your w/d's won't be too bad. That's what I did. I made myself get out on do stuff the first couple of days of detox. You can do this!! You already have a plan, stick with it! As for the energy- I don't want to be a " Debbie downer" but, I'm on day 30 and my energy is wack. I think the energy is the last to come? How are you feeling right now?
Day 3/4 were the worst for me. Sounds like u did a good job tapering so you should be ok. Just think, by this weekend you will be feeling way better. You got this!
Was kinda hoping the worst was behind me but the 3rd day is tomorrow. I miss waking up feeling actually normal...where I could stretch and get my body loosened up and then hit the gym. I went the lazy way to "mask pain" and get through my days at work. I hope my energy comes back sooner than later....I've heard that's usually what takes the longest to come back. Going to get back into the gym routine regardless of the hours I put in at work. Going to sleep....2 days down....? to go
Hi- Usually, the third day is the worst and then begins to improve. Good for you going to the gym! That should help you sleep tonight. Hang in there; you're doing perfectly.
I did something completely insane and went to the gym today. I stretched for a good 15 minutes which helped my hips, legs, and back incredibly. I jogged 5 laps (medium to slow jog), did some crunches on a core ball, and abs/core exercises on a machine. Nothing strenuous so hopefully I don't pay the price tomorrow. Not sure if it was intelligent or dumb that I went to the gym today/bad for me with minimal energy? I guess the gym nut I once was took over and it was more of a mind over matter thing. I feel the same as far as crawling skin but have a better mental outlook on life for the time being. 2 protein shakes down (appetite seems to be getting worse and I get nauseous at times)....getting through day 2. I still can't believe I went to the gym. Hot shower here I come. Does anyone know how long the worst of the physical symptoms last. I was on 50-90 mg of oxycodone a day, 25 mg oxycodone and 400 mg of nucynta ER my last day of taking pills. I took two days worth of suboxone and very minimal amounts with a lesser amount the second day. Just wondering how much longer I'll feel this way?
a hot shower is better than nothing!! i took a lot of them..., lots of bananas, tonic water ( the quinine on it helps with RLS too ), magnesium supplements and the hylands...also ice gel/badges helped me a lot, some people use a hot blanket ... whatever it might help you :)
well I'm glad to hear that I'm headed in the right direction. The RLS is probably the thing that is going to annoy me the most. Being tire and wanting to sleep but not being able to bc of restless legs/tossing and turning. I do have 1 mg Ativan by prescription that I am going to attempt to use at bedtime for tonight and tomorrow night. No more, no less....I'm kinda putting together a regimen to get through this and I am sticking to it. I don't want to develop any other harmful habits....we are all habitual by nature and can be are our own worst enemy's in my opinion and I do not wish to end up in deeper water. I will look into the restless leg remedy thing for relief. I only have a shower so baths are out of the question. Thank you all for your helpful advice through all of this.
a protein rich diet is very advised after detoxing, yeah... i would advice you to read some of the posts at the health pages if you are interested ( about diet and lifestyle... ). Those shakes will be great for you
as for now, i would recommend you some mineral supplements, magnesium and potasium to help you with muscle cramps and pain ( bananas and potasium rich food helps too ), you might experience RLS at night which is very uncomfortable ( the supplements and hot baths will help and also a homeopatic remedy hylands restful legs )
Stretching daily and yoga sound great :)... you really need to take some steps to handle your pain and stress at work.
I use to be very health prone and very physically active before starting the medication and changing to the new position at work. I'm going to get back to stretching everyday whether I go to the gym or not and have been thinking about joining a yoga class. I am far from any of that right now, I just go back from the store and I'm exhausted beyond belief. I also took a small walk as many have suggested. This is my first day with out anything, including suboxone but I have to take advantage of my vacation and not procrastinate....I only have so much time to get through this. I bought some Imodium as suggested and I actually bought some of the protein that I use to take when I was going to the gym routinely. It has a significant amount of the Tyrosine and a ton more nutrients that will aide with hydration and health. I bought Xience energy drinks which are loaded with B6 and etc vitamins and doesn't contain aspartame...a not so bad energy drink pretty much...so hopefully that helps. I'm hoping to be as close to normal, physically, by Thursday but who knows...I guess we'll see.
Well, I will let everyone know if the protein shake mix and energy drinks are helpful for others' future reference.

take a hot bath with epsom salts, you will feel better for a while :) drink lots of fluids, this is important and .. keep pushing yourself, feeling depressed is normal but repeat to yourself that you will pull through this !!!! I see that you have not used for a long time but the mental part will be tough once the physical wds are gone... there is something called rebound pain, after quitting you might get some flares of back pain that will might make you think that going back to the pills is not a bad idea cause you need them for the pain ... DO NOT GO BACK... the pain will feel worse but after some days you will experience that it is not as bad as you think.. Have a plan to manage the back pain you suffer from your work... maybe back exercises, better posture, acupuncture, massages to relieve the stress and pain.... be proactive on your recovery, please :)
I'm going to go pick up some Imodium and the other ingredients the Thomas recipe called for. I have no energy, feel like I've been in a car accident, and I'm pretty depressed but I'm forcing my self to take a shot shower and go get these things at the store. This really ***** but at least I have the good fortune of being able to take vacation so I won't complain anymore. I couldn't imagine doing this while having to go to work. I'm really hoping these ingredients help.
thanks
It sounds like you have a good plan. A week off of work should be very helpful. Its great that you have that opportunity. I suggest looking at the Thomas Recipe. You may find it helpful. Stay plugged into this site. A week should put you in a pretty good position where your feeling a lot better when you go back to work. Congrats on making the decision to stop using.
