How will i cope and when is it over??

I've been addicted to tramadol for little over a yr. about 8-10 pills of 50 mg a day. It's now day 2 of none at all. I started the Thomas Detox Recipe but miss read it and i began taking the L-Tyrosine with Vit B-6 on day 1. It says day 4 so I already messed up. :( It does make me feel better and it gives me positive energy. I have 2 little ones to care for and I have no help. When will this no sleep, lack of energy end??? I feel so down and on the edge. HELP!

With the tramadol you have to be very careful going cold turkey off of them. Going cold turkey can cause some people to have seizures. How many do you take a day and how long have you been on them? It is really something you should talk to your doctor about. I would drop one pill every 3 to 5 days on the trams. As for the vicodin, you can just quit those cold turkey. Flush the remaining vicodin you have or else they will be calling your name and it will be hard to say no. As for the smoking, that's up to you. I too smoked so much more while I was on the pills. You don't want to put yourself through to much as it might set you up for failure. So I would recommend tossing the vikes, tapering off the trams, and pick a later date for the smoking.  If possible I would get in to see your doctor and ask him to help you with a taper schedule off of the trams. If you can find Avis on here, she would be able to help you with the tapering of the trams as that was her drug of choice. Also at the top right of the page you will see "recent activity". Right above that there is a search box that will search this forum only. Type in tramadol and it will bring up many different posts about it.
Just hang in there and know it will get better. Please feel free to share anything you feel comfortable with on here. There is not one person on here that will judge you as most of us have walked in your shoes. I can almost guarantee there is not one thing you did during active addiction that we didn't do either. Honesty is a very important part of recovery.
Best of luck to you and if you need anything, please let me know!!

So after reading through more and more posts, I feel better about just coming clean with all that has been going on. Plus I had my kids around and couldn't type too much. The truth is that there is a Vicodin component to this as well. It's trams all day and then Vicodin at night, it has just become a daily pattern. With the pills comes the smoking, so yes I secretly smoke as well, which when I am off the pills I have no craving for at all. Now I am trying to quit all 3 at once. Is it best to just go cold turkey on all abuses or take them in steps. Example, Stop trams but still take some Vicodins which is naturally a decrease of the intake. Next the vics go and deal from there? Since I've been clean from tramadol day 2 none at all, I've taken two 7.5 vicodins at night to taper off the edge, I plan to wein that as well, hopefully in a week. Am I doing this right??

Also, is it true that you can have seizures from detoxing off Tramadol? I heard that and it freaked me out. Thanks!

yes as flmagi stated....get rid of those vikes...it s only prolonging all the agony even more....i took tons of b12 after the physical wds...i could really tell the difference as far as energy goes...get the kind that melt in your mouth...it takes time to heal and feel well...just don t let your mind play tricks thinking 1 pill won t hurt...it will..lots of luck...maria :)

By taking Vicodins, you're just dragging out the withdrawals. Taking hot baths and getting some exercise may help you sleep a little at night, but for the most part you just have to wait it out. It's not easy, but you can do it. Keep up the good work.

look at both.  i think the thomas recipe saved me but i didn't know about the amino acid protocol.  the protocol gives more options and is a great resource.  look over both and try to figure out what symptoms you are enduring and go from there.

Thanks! But what is the difference between the Thomas Detox Recipe and the Amino Acid Protocol??

The L-Tyrosine will wire you up so be careful taking it.  Have you tried Melatonin or Valerian root?  There is also something in the amino acid protocol (you can find that on the right side of the screen) that is like a natural valium?   The no sleep thing will taper off over the next week or two so good luck!

Oh, and to add to this post, I absolutely got zero sleep last night. I am taking a couple vicodins at night to taper off the edge, and about 6 hours later took a tylenol PM and it did nothing. I got about 2 hrs of sleep. When will this end??
