Hydrocodone / Oxycodone Withdrawal

by ctphillipstx, Nov 02, 2009 04:27PM
I recently had my gall bladder removed, last Thursday, and I have been taking hydrocodone for the past 15 months recreationally.  My average was 45mg per day while awake.  I am now on Oxycodone for my surgery and have already started to wean off from 30mg per day for 3 days down to 5mg per day for the past 24 hours.  2.5mg morning, 2.5mg in the evening.  I am ready to turn my life around and stop taking these narcotic pain killers as well as stop drinking.  My question is, how long can I expect the withdrawal symptoms to last after weaning down to 5mg per day for 6 days and 2.5mg per day for 6 days, at that point I will be out and I have no desire to start this roller coaster again.  I have flushed my remaining hydrocodone and I am committed to getting clean.  I have been a user of every drug throughout different stages in my life, this past 1 1/2 years it has just been alcohol and pain killers, I gave up street drugs over 4 years ago.

You're at the right place for support.. but you KNOW whatcha GOTTA DO... and it sounds like you're doin' it!  Good job on Flushing... Now ya just gotta stay away from the alcohol... Please don't make the transition from one addiction to another... (i.e. pills / alcohol)
Get yourself into some sort of AA/NA for support and AFTERCARE.....(that's important)

You can do this!  I have faith in YOU!

Keep posting cuz there are alot of people out here that care and will help you in any way that they can.. myself included...

Lots of Love and Prayers your way!

I have been off alcohol for 8 days, and will be going to AA.  I am just not looking forward to the withdrawals, but have the support of my wife and two girls.  Fortunately, I can stay home from work for the next 10 days.
