Hydrocodone/Suicide

I have been on Hydrocodone for 2months and have decided to go off of it.  I feel suicidal.  I dont want to wake up in the morning.  I dont want to go to work.  I dont want to deal.  I tried to do it cold turkey.  I need help and I need it fast.
What should I eat...what should I drink...How long will this feeling last?

The normal physical withdraw from this drug is 5-7 days of feeling like you have a bad flu.You say you have been on it for 2 months.Have you been abusing it or was it prescribed to you for a legitimate reason? How much have you been taking on a daily basis? There are other routes besides cold turkey. Please talk with us I assure you what you are feeling is very normal and so many here can relate. Please continue to post and let us help you out. You're not alone.

I had it px for my back.  Then it was for when I was having a bad day.  When I got in a fight with my husband.  Bad day with the kids.

When will the suicide thoughts go away?

I don't know very much about suicidal thinking because i've never experienced it.. but i DO KNOW if you are having them you should see a dr, call a helpline or something like that..share it with a professional that does know how to handle it.

I feel your pain. a couple times when i quit hydro in the past, I got suicidal feelings too. It was awful. I couldnt stop crying. I cried about everything.  Do you normally suffer from depression or is this a new onset? Ive been a lifelong sufferer of depression but it got way worse when i quit the pills because it was numbing me for so long and then whammo all of a sudden i had all these feelings come out and couldnt cope very well. I had to go bck on my antidepressant which i had quit a long time ago, and Im still on it now.  If you are prone to depression, you may want to ask your Dr about getting on an antidepressant. Keep us posted and I hope you feel better soon.

BTW how much were you taking  a day and how long since you last took any? usually days 1-5 are the worst for the WD symptoms (which can include severe depression/suicidal ideation)

Althught I don't know you personally, I know that you have relevant things in your life that requires you to be alive, well & sober.

Is this truth or dare?

We all usually do..... and before you think suicide, (I have also) think of the consequinces that the people that need you will face..

Yes, people need you.  U're not the only one fuked up.  I am.  But people need me sober.

Talk some more.

Jenn,

I strongly suggest you get yourself to the hospital and tell them your having thoughts of suicide. This is a great forum but it's not equipped to deal with your problem. I guarentee once you go to the hospital they will help you and you will start to feel better. So please after you read this pick up the phone and go and get the help you need.

Depression is common with opiads. It will pass, and it will get better. Not sure if you exercise at all, or how much, but that is a great thing to do. I know you don't feel like it right now, but even a walk around the block is something.
Hang in there, things will get better!

II AGREE WITH DOWNEY.  Please go to a healthcare facility/hospital right away if you're still feeling suicidal!  This is nothing to fool around with.

Keep posting so we know you're OK.

Good luck

Jenn,
Depression and suicidal thoughts are common after withdrawels.  We have altered our brain chemistry and for some of us it doesn't fix itself right away. Depression after 2 months and this severe shouldn't be ignored. You really need to go to the doctor or ER and get on some anti-depressants, even if for a few months until this passes.  Depression can also cause a relapse and you certainly don't want that after all your hard work.
Please take care of yourself and see someone soon about some anti-depressants.
Hang in there.

hi there. I have had problems in the past with percocet and vicodin in the past. I have fibromyalgia and now they found a possible cyst/tumor on my bladder so guess what? More pain medication. I have been in agony not taking the meds for fear of what happened beofre. I too felt the way you did. I didn't sleep for 5-7 days, had pain, but the anxiety was the worst! I ended up tieing a rope around my neck and my husband found me and saved me literally w/in seconds of death. It's just not worth it honey! I ended up in a locked down mental health unit and got on some anti-depressants and remeron which is also for depression but man it helps you sleep like you wouldn't believe! I had to take time off work and I am a registered nurse as well as a mother of 3. This too shall pass... The Bible promises this. Hang in there, keep fighting, and God bless you! I will pray for you!

Jenn as stated in your other post. You are very likely fighting Post Partum Depression along with the withdrawals that bring depression too. Do look at the Thomas recipe and the amino acid protocol posts.
