Hydrocodone Withdrawal

Could someone please tell me what the withdrawal symptoms are for stopping Hydrocodone? I have been taking 130mg per day for the past 5 weeks and I want to quit. I have had terrible withdrawal from benzos in the past and I want to avoid the hell of self-withdrawal. I can't afford detox. Today is my second day off hydros and I feel pretty shaky, nauseated and light headed. Advice is greatly appreciated!

I tapered and it made the withdrawals easier but more drawn out.

Hi,

Look in my journals for the Thomas recipe. It is very helpful and it tells you what to take and when.

Good Luck!!!

I am only going by what I went through and by what I have read others have been through. I do know that everyone is different...I never tapered...didn't have the willpower to keep a schedule so I had to do this cold turkey...others out there are doing the taper so they may be better equipped to answer that for you...From what I have seen they still do have w/d symptoms but I don't know how severe they are! Wish I could tell you more!

I've been reading many of your comments to others and you seem to be very knowledgable about the withdrawl symptoms, etc.  I have a question...if you are "weaning" yourself off slowly, do you know if the withdrawl sysmptoms will be as severe as if you didn't slowly stop the lorcets???  thanks for your input

Oh yeah...if you want to stay away from meds (Xanax or valium) for sleep...many on the forum swear by Valerian root (I've heard the tea is more effective than the pills) and for the fatigue Vitamin B12...personally I have been taking a powdered energy drink with vitamins and minerals 4x a day called EMERGEN-C. I really believe it helps!

Hi and welcome to the forum...I can only speak from my own experience and from what i have read here.  The first 3-4 days can be flu-like symptoms...muscle aches, cold sweats, diarrhea, after about day 5 the physical symptoms subside but there are lots of mental struggles...depression, anxiety. There are some things you can do to help you get through but if you are on day 2 cold turkey then you are doing great...you will feel better in a couple of days.  I sat in the hot tub  alot...if you don't have access to that a hot bath or shower is good for the muscle aches.  Xanax or valium is helpful for the anxiety and sleepless nights that you will likely have.  I'm so glad that you recognized a problem early on...you are doing great by stopping this craziness now!!! I probably missed something here so I'm sure people will fill in the blanks. I am on Day 12 c/t from 10-15 10mg hydrocodone daily for 2 1/2 yrs.  It has been tough but I feel that I am taking my life back little by little. Please feel free to ask anymore questions!!!!! Peace to you!
