Hydrocodone Withdrawals

Have been taking between 30-60mg of Hydrocodone per day for the past two years. Ran out and can't get any from the usual sources. Today is the first day in two years that I haven't had any. Rough day! I ache like crazy, my back hurts and I am so tired I can barely stay awake. No time like the present to try to kick this habit once and for all. I need to know what to expect though and how long these symptoms will last. I also developed cold-like symptoms today - can't quit sneezing. Is all of this normal? How long will it last?
Anything I can do to ease the physical and psychological discomfort? Any advice greatly welcome. Thanks.

It is hard enough trying to stay clean without any outside sources offering them to you....I did everything I could to remove myself from people and places that were related to my pill hunting.  It still takes some self discipline to not call them or go there, but at least they are not calling me or offering them to me....I would suggest you find a way to have your mother understand your challenges...otherwise, that is a very difficult and tempting situation to put yourself in.

Suggestion: Tell mom your done and to please not offer.. They are making you sick...Dr said they are too much on your liver..Anything...Or just be honest with her.Honesty is the best policy...right?? Good luck

Thanks, everyone! No trouble sleeping - actually, that's all I want to do. Does the energy come back at some point? Today is going to be especially difficult. My mom will get her hydro refilled and know she will offer some to me. Need to stay strong. I decided yesterday that I want to drop this habit once and for all.

It also helps when u feel ur at ur worst to blog on here. You will receive alot of support here ur not the only one were all in this together. And hot baths do help especially with Epson salts.

Yeah the first few days you will feel like you have the flu/cold along with ache restlessness etc. Its diffently do able. Myself was taking 250 of hydro a day. Luck mine had very little tylenol. The real challenge for me was the mental part. Just getting myself to belive I can get past it. Diffently look up the thread with the Thomas recipe that does really help also.  Now you know there is no free way out of it you will go through it but you can do it. Get a support group that's is the most important thing and we are here for you

It will be a rough ride for the first 5-6 days but it is doable and something you will greatly appreciate.  There is no time like now, because it only will get worse and your tolerance will have you taking more and more to the point where you are not getting the high and just taking them to feel normal.  This is a perfect time to realize how deep you have fallen into the opiate addiction hole and starting climbing out.  Do not underestimate the power of the hot bath soak, I renewed my YMCA membership and visited the steamroom daily.  Good luck with your recovery.

definitly follow "Thomas's receipe on the forum somewhere--the basics are lots of fluid, force yourself the more the better; TAKE LOTS OF HOT BATHS for the aches & pains that are lots worse than I expected; take Immodium but only what you need to aliviate your GI symptoms(diarrhea), it really helps; you will be shaking sweating shivering, skin hurts.good meds to help otc are benadryl, asperin, tyelonl, ibuprophen; really try to eat; sodea crackers were the best & soup; day 3 was the peak for me.  by day 5 it was more like a bad cold.  I also had a low dose of ativan (perscription tranquilizer)on the 3rd & 4th nite so i finally slept.  you really do feel like you could possibly die....but you won't i promise & in 3-4 more days only96HOURS you are totally through the worst of the  physical challenge.  good good luck.  i know you can do it...
