Hydrocodone addiction - withdrawal.

I just posted this, but I think I posted it in the wrong forum.  ANY help is GREATLY appreciated.

Anyone out there been on physician prescribed Hydrocodone syrup and gotten addicted?  I was prescribed Hydrocodone about 6 months ago after a surgery and have taken it since then.  I had some complications from surgery and had additional surgeries so they kept prescribing it to me.  I've just quit cold turkey (yesterday) and need some support!  I couldn't sleep at all last night and I am wondering what to expect.  What can I do that will help me.  I am so frustrated right now and afraid that I'll call for another refill.  SOMEONE HELP, PLEASE!

Say no to Opiates.  Say no to hydrocodone!  It's poison to your body!  I know nothing about Sub.  I say you don't need it.  I one day took 40 Norco 10's in 14 hours.  Take it from me, you will be fine.  Maybe get some valium or ambien to sleep.  I don't think you need sub though.  But I know nothing about sub.  You don't even need valium or ambien.  Just tough it out!

You will be fine.  You should just stick it out.  You will be fine after 72 hours.  Watch and you will see.  Remember when the withdrawal pains come, they will only last for 15 minutes, then they will go away.  And when they come, they will only last 15 minutes at a time, you can make it through 15 minutes.  Take warm baths, a lot, and eat as much as you can and drink a lot of fluids.  Don't refill your medication.  You will have to do it some day anyways, may as well make it now.  Just get it over with.  You don't want to be where me and many others here are.  Run....Run!  Be Free and Clean NOW!

I used hydro cough syrup before when i was low on pills....kinda hard to get high off of without getting sick...there is usually like 6 mg of hydro in a teaspoon....it would tide me over til i got my pills...unless u r drinking a bottle a day..then ur intake is not horrendously high...i was at 80-100 mg a day of hydros and went back to work day 5..think positive..keep posting

I quit last tuesday-- 9 days ago After taking Hydro's for 5 yrs !   And I did it with Suboxone.....   GO To suboxone.com  Do the Dr. Locator & CALL ASAP !!!!!
It helps!!!!     I tried going CT, I traied cutting down..... But I have 4 kids, a very busy husband & I Just could'nt do it alone.   Some ppl have GREAT THINGS to say about the Sub & others say it's no good.    FOR ME It was the Answer.  PLEASE READ UP ON IT !!!!!!!  It saved my life! Look up a doctor that prescribes suboxone.  You don't have to suffer, sleepless nights, etc.  Suboxone is expensive, but in a short time taking it as prescribed you could be off all the opiates and just walk away.  Like you, I had 45 mgs. morphine daily with 6-8 10 mg percocetts for "breakthrough pain" which to me was an excuse to take 10 or so.  Hey, you can do it.  Suboxone is a miracle drug in my opinion.  I was literally in a narcotic haze for 4 years.  The only one who didn't know it was me.

When I went cold turkey I was sick for about 2 weeks.The worst was the 2nd week I had what I call ADHd mind where I couldn't quit thinking.I took a ton of hot baths,had my hubby rub my arms and legs down with muscle cream and then would put icey hot sleeves on my elbos (had restless arms)and my knees(I bought 4 boxes at wal mart)and I put a bar of soap underneath my bottom sheet in my bed for the RLS and it helped a lot.Walking,keeping hydrated,eat well,and lots of hot baths.Everyone is different some have mild w/d's for a few days and some are not so lucky.Each day should be somewhat better than the last.You can do it

Thank you for both of your answers.  What is the Thomas recipe?  Do you both still battle the desire or are you pretty much 'cured'?

Anyone else offer any suggestions?

First of all congrats on your day one clean !!!  I was addicted to hydro 6 plus years and used oxy for my script run out time. 60 to 80 mgs a day. So my wds may be alittle different than yours I dont know your mgs.

The first 4 days were the worst for me phsyically. I used hot baths, hot tub, steam bath, hot microwavable disc in clothes. Lots of antioxidant green tea. Vitimans. Lots of water and exercise. Walking was the best I could do in the beginning. I mean after the first 4 days of trying to keep myself warm.
It was so worth every minute. of suffering to stop chasing the opiates. Thank God  Oh yea I forgot the most important part.(for me)  Pray and come here as often as you can.

The first time I got clean for 2 weeks I used valium for the first 2 or 3 days only 3 5mg a day. Only got a small script from dr. I was totally honest with. I also took clonidine for first 2 or 3 days I cant remember. Both are addicting so didn't want big script.

I’m going through the same thing. I was on Hydros and Morphine for over 6 years and decided to quit last week. I’m on day 8 and feeling much better. It’s was a rough 5 days for me until I started to hit the upside.  Just hang in there…watch a movie..keep you mind occupied to pass the time. Read up on the Thomas recipe. I did not try it, I just gutted it out. But it may be of use to you.

bump - is there anyone online that can help me? I don't know if I was taking a ton - I'm hoping not so my w/d doesn't last long.  I was prescribed the hydrocodone syrup at 2 tsp every 4-6 hours.  Toward the end I'd take about 6 tsp once around 4pm, and then another 6 tsp about 9pm and if I was still up another 6 tsp around 12 midnight.  Then I'd take 6tsp about 6-7 am and wouldn't' take any at all during the day until about 4pm.  

Can someone tell me what to expect, please?  I took my last dose at about 10pm Monday night.  So, I haven't had anything for about 36 hours.  I hardly slept at all last night and I'm craving the hydrocodone.  I'm also very anxious and feel panic.  Please tell me it won't last long.  Is there anything over the counter that I can take to help with the cravings, anxiety or panic?
