Hydrocodone addiction need help

I need some help.  I've been taking about 40mg of vicodin (norco) a day for the past year.  I ran out of pills and decided now is the time to stop.  However, I have a full time job where I can't even work and the withdrawl is unbearable.  I didn't slowly ween myself off and am now having shakes and irratibility and all the other side effects from stopping medication suddenly.  Can anyone tell me what to do?  Is there anything else I can take over the counter to stop the withdrawl effects immediately!?  Please help

I was on about 70mg of Norco and 100mcg of Duragisic patches for about the past 4-5 years...when I had to "Go Without" I would use an OTC anit-diherreaha  medication and Aleve OTC pain reliever and the best thing that worked for me was Thera-Flu and Tylenol PM for sleep..your body is going thru flu-like symptoms...It doesnt take things away but it takes a lil of the edge off..I also have a friend that says steroids {pills} help alot...Everyone has somethng different to offer thats why I love this site...The best thing is that if you can't deal with it ...go to the E.R. and they will help you there..Good Luck..

Thanks!  Do you know the name of an over the counter pain killer?  I'm going to try to get up and go to the store.  This is horrible!  I don't know how I ever let myself get this way!

It was an online prescription.  This is only day 1.  I can't stop shaking my legs, I'm super anxious, irritable...I heard something about Thomas' Detox.  What is that?  Is there some stuff I can get at the local store to help with my current symptoms and what is about to come?  Thanks for the advice!

I am on day 6, and I just had to walk and walk for 4 days and nights with no sleep before it stopped. It does go away, I am proof of that!

Sorry to butt in but you should have immodium and an over the counter pain killer....Try and sleep away as much of the next several days as you can.......The Thomas detox is great advice....I personally haven't tried it ( I just went cold turkey) but it sounds logical.....Keep asking questions here and someone will help you.......If it gets bad remember......it will pass.....peak time should come at day 3 or 4......then you should start to slowly feel better and in 7 days or so.....you will start to feel your old self again......It will get better.and you will be a stronger person for it! Keep occupied if you can.......if only by reading the posts on this board....I found music to be super helpful.....and if you smoke pot....go ahead.....Your Strong.....You can do this.....I promise you have the power !!!!!

I wish I could tell you something that would work magic for you.....but if your out of drugs you have only 1 choice (unless you can get more) Just remember that the Withdrawl will not kill you.....But don't worry about having symptoms before they happen.....you were not taking a monster dose and you may only feel uncomfortable for a few days.but even at its worst...the withdrawl is not totally unlike a bad case of the flu..... By all means if you feel you are too ill go to the ER and tell them the truth and they will help you.....I'm 10 days clean from almost 15  Norcos a day and oxi's added in....so try and relax.....you may have a mild withdrawl

Hi, I'm new too.  I took my last Lortab 10/325 at ten a.m. yesterday.  I had been taking 60 mgs (six 10/325 tabs) a day for the last year.  And then I binged out and took this last rx in 10 days, never thinking about withdrawal until I came to this site.  The last ten days I took 18 Lortabs a day.  I came to this site which is very helpful but one lady said I shouldn't have very bad withdrawals.  Well I don't want to scare you, but I am in hell.  I was up all night going to the bathroom, diahreahh, and even though I wasnt vomiting, my stomach was very upset.  I hurt all over and I'm running a fever.  I have no energy what so ever and nothing appeals to me as far as food.  I have been trying to drink some gatoraide. Anyway, if you can take off work for a few days I think that would be the thing to do.  And just stay in bed.  I've been in bed all day today.  I'm glad I have a laptop.
Good luck to you,
ima

Was this a prescription? can you get a supply and set yourself up a schedule to ween off? That's what I would do having been through the WDs 4 or 5 times now. (yes some ppl never learn) if that is not an option you probably need to call out of work starting days 3-7 at least until you start to feel better. After that you will feel the need to use sooooooo bad just resist and day by day it will go down.

HOT SHOWERS are a life saver along with tylenol PM for me to sleep and feel a bit better.

All depends on what symptoms you start getting.

What day are you on without any Vic?
