Hydrocodone

I have been on hydrocodone for a year and a half now. My dose has been raised from 7.5 to 10 the last six months. My doctor refuses to take me off the drug.I have Degenerative Disc Disease in my l4 and l5 lumbar regions of the back. I take at least 6 to 7 pills a day and want to quit cold turkey. What are the side effects I can expect and for how long? What can I do to help keep me from taking them also. My doctor won't and I cannot go to another doctor my insurance only has one listed in this area we can use and we have a hmo provider. Your answer to this question will help me immensely. Thankyou.
