There is an over the counter pill call mersyndol.  It is 8mg codeine and acetominophen.  I'm not sure how  much asap is in it but it is the max strength codeine you can get without a script.  Hope this helps.

I have been taking 10 / 500 of hydrocodone for almost 2 years and want to taper off of these damn things and I know they make 7.5 and 5 of the hydro but I have used the Canadian ones and they seem to work for other pain I had in the past before the hydro so I though it may be a better pain controler so I can get of the other. I also abuse the hydro.

I am from Canada and basically, (at least as far as I know) the percocet is 5/325 mg and it is oxycodone.  I'm not sure what the difference is between oxycodone and hydrocodone.  I might look into suboxone if I were you but that is a personal choice.  I don't know if I've helped you any or not.  Good luck

HELP! I don't know what to do. My wife, a 46 year old staty at home mom to our 10 year old son, has been on antidepressants for at least 15 years and has taken hydrocodone pills (several a day) for about six years for chronic back pain. In addition to the nauseau, constipation, dizziness and mental fogginess side-effects, she has recently experienced suicidal ideation, drastic mood swings and one week after we moved to a new house in LA, she is demanding a divorce (with no good reason for wanting to split up). I don't know what to do. She won't see a psychiatrist to check her meds (she also takes anti-anxiety px) and does not choose to go in for physical therapy or exercise to treat the back condition. I love my wife and want to keep our family together, but she's choosing her addicition over our marriage and family. Any advice would be appreciated. A very concerned husband and father

My heart goes out to you...from what you have written it seems clear that she is too far gone into her drug dependency and needs help. You are not alone. Unfortunately she refuses to get help and you can't force someone to detox if they don't want to.  May I suggest that you start seeing a therapist so that you can talk to someone about this and help yourself understand whats happening and how to make it better for you and your child and hopefully your wife.  The more educated you become on whats going on with her the sooner you can help your family.

Good Luck!
