I am Back! I RELAPSED... :( Started using again, help please!!

So I quit cold turkey in november (thanksgiving) and was opiate free until middle or end of december. Since then I have been on sort of a 'binge' lets say. I need help and I know I found it here before and I hope I can find it again. I got prescribed #180 oxycodone 5mg tablets, but NO pharmacies have them around here. I have tried getting them up to a 45min drive away and they all laugh and say that no one has them. So took it to TARGET who had the most (96). I have 92, because I just took four.

Can someone helpe me with a taper schedule to get clean off of this within about 3 weeks to minimize withdrawals if it can be minimized by taking a longer period of time, but not much I would try it. March 13th is spring break and I would like to taper as much as I can until then and go cold turkey from there so at least I am sick and on break and not having to do school work. I plan on taking my 10mg that was prescribed to me tonight if I start feeling like ****.

I am sorry I let some of you down, but please help with me a taper or share your taper that worked for you. MUCH MUCH appreciated!!

PharmToBe

Thank you and God Bless

PS: I know I swore never to take them again, but my back pain kills, but I am finally getting my cortisone shots in my back in a few weeks!

Pharmacy is out of the damn pills because the stupid MD's prescribe them at an alarming rate. It's sickening.... I read recently that 73% of  those on these opiates, to include me of course get a hard core addiction with in 30 days. 73!!!!!!!!!!!! If the pharmacy can not even keep the meds in stock there is a SERIOUS problem. Some one has to get this to congress or something. It is so damn out of control.

glad to see you are gonna check into some aftercare.  for so many it is the difference in success and relapse.  it is just so hard to stay clean when we dont know how.  na offers some great tools for the mental cravings and staying clean.  good luck and keep on...

Congratulations are being back and wanting to get clean again!  You CAN do it!  I'm so happy to see you back!  For me, I went to a therapist and here at the forum for my aftercare and it worked.  Please keep coming even when you think you are fine - because there are still days when I've had temptations.  We all do. Once an addict, we always have to watch what we do.

WOOHOO that you're here!

Hugs,
Janet

They are talking na or aa or a therapist for your addiction.  You will also have to deal with the pain but if you are gonna get off the drugs you will need the na or aa also...very important.  Good luck to you

Aftercare as in AA or NA meetings, counseling. You need support to help to stay clean, recognize triggers and learn ways to help get past them.

You mean like treatment after I get through this? I am getting cortisone shots in my back and working on my core and doing cardio to strengthen the muscles supporting my lumber spine region. Thank you all for your help, and a link to that taper page would be great! thanks.

Oh and yes, I am giving my GF the bottle to hold today. I am getting 80 more 5mg tablets soon (when these run low). I bring in the bottle to the doctors office and he sees Target giving me 100 tablets, he writes me a script for 80 more and I did talk to the insurance company, and they do cover it, I just have to pay the copay. Thank god.

thanks guys and gals!!

Welcome back glad you want to quit again. I like theeagles comment, so true. I did not do a taper I do not think I could have. When do you finish school? Your going to be a pharmacist is that correct? I would really do as Cathy suggested and get aftercare treatment it really helps.

Just an observation, but I do remember your last effort. It sounds like you are thinking properly, at least. My observation? The part of your post about "back pain kills" - - - narcotics kill faster.......

Thats strange the pharmacy being out of pills I wonder what the story is with that. Anyway its nice to see you back. Pain is such a vicious cycle it really is. Can you have someone hold the pills for you?

welcome back....you can find support here...but like worried said, you need some type aftercare to successfully quit long term...nothing changes if nothing changes...you have to change your way of thinking....you cant think in terms of taking a pill.  taking 4 at a time shows you are using for the high...not saying you dont have pain, but taking 4 is spiking.  i did the same thing when i had pills, thats why i could not taper.  i cant help ya with a taper but check out the article worried told ya about and keep posting...

there is an article in the health pages on tapering...u take small doses spread out over the day..avoiding big doses at once...or spiking...what is ur dose now?  anyway with 92 pills to work with u can write it out and pick a quit day..and stick to it...taking 4 at once may not be the best way instead tking 1-2 pills every 3-4 hours may work better...have u tried any aftercare?
