Hi. I'm sorry for what you are going through and it appears you have a lot of support from the women on this forum. I found a website that may offer programs for you to go to that's in Georgia. I pray for your success.

That's really good you have an OB appointment! I was also pregnant and an addict. I was honest with my OB and told them. They told me I could go to an inpatient program they had at the hospital so I could safely get off heroin. I didn't go to that though, I quit by slowly weaning myself off the drugs. I wouldn't advise you to do that though because sometimes it can stress the baby. I quit drugs completely around 6 or 7 months pregnant. The doctors DO have to report it to the state so yes, CPS did get involved with my situation. They didn't take my son away from though thankfully since he wasn't born with any drugs in his system and he wasn't going through any sort of withdraw. As long as you're honest with your OB, they can help. I would see if they have some sort of impatient program at the hospital that they can help you get off drugs. Good luck!

You just need to come right out and say you re addicted to opiates and don't want to be and need help. They'll take it from there.  I don't know about CPS in Georgia. I know about my state and here SOME situations are reported with the woman completely informed. When social service gets involved, that's all it is: involved. They keep in touch, make home visits, test for drugs, etc..All this in an effort to keep the child at home with Mom. It makes good sense, don't you think?  The authorities don't want to take babies. They're all about working with Mothers to keep the home and child safe and the Mom drug free.   You need to be honest though. This scenario changes if you don't say anything and the doctor finds out. And he/she will find out about drug use; most test for it either in the office or when you're admitted to the hospital for delivery.

Let us know how you're doing!

Hi there-

First of all you must remain calm.  Remember that your baby feels everything that you do, okay?  So deep breaths.  You are an addict and that is nothing to be ashamed of.  This could be the best possible thing that ever happened to you because you will need to get clean to be the best Momma that little munchkin needs.
You MUST be straight up 100% with the doctor.  You will not be the first addict they've had as a patient, and you won't be the last.  As long as you tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth, they will do everything they can to support you and help you do what is best for you and baby.
From what I understand they will probably put you on methadone or suboxone for the remainder of your pregnancy (this is just what I've read here so don't quote me on that)
After you give birth they will monitor the babe closely.  You will need to get into some aftercare to work on your recovery.  If you are honest with the doctors and working a program, I don't believe that CPS will take your child,
There are many, many members on this forum who are addicts and have been where you are.  I'm sure one of them will come along soon and give you some more personal and solid advice.
Just take good care okay?  Make sure you are taking Folic Acid and the other prenatal vitamins.
And total honesty is ALWAYS the best policy, but especially in this situation.
Wishing you peace and all the best for you and baby-
Keep us posted.

Welcome to the forum girl.....glad you have an appt with an OB already...that's good!  You are SO RIGHT that you should NOT go CT.

Honesty is the ONLY way to go.  If you are honest with your OB, you will be given safe options to follow.  Your dr has ALL the information and can treat you accordingly.  The state shouldn't get involved if you are honest NOW.....because they will help you and your baby in the safest way possible.

Congratulations on your wee one.....new life growing inside you...how wonderful...!!!.  Hopefully this will be the beginning of a new drug free life for you and a recovery journey that you can embrace.
