I am just disappointed about health

I am so disappointed right now. I started taking the suboxone and finally started to feel good and now this dang constipation has me down. I want the endless visits to the doctors office to stop.  I can not keep up this ritual with the doctors. I am broke and so tired of one health problem after another. My husband is over it too. The final straw I think for him was addiction. there are been so many dr appointments that have been in the past few years. He thought for sure this was going to help make me feel better. He wants his life back also and I don't blame him. He has supported me all the way. but I have not told him yet that the constipation is happening let alone tell him I am scared again and need to go to doctor. I have been happy off all the meds I have discontinued since the beginning of this recovery. Vics somas ativan halcion elavil trazadone. Now another round of some problems. Will it ever end? I am in tears now I am so over it. Afraid to tell husband more so than when I said I was addicted.

magnesium Citrate is OTC and in little green glass bottles.  Mix one bottle with sprite or 7-up and then another bottle 45 minutes to hour later.  Buy the dulcolax Liqued suppository too like stated above.  Are you still taking Opiates?  Is that why your constipated?  If so make sure you are taking a stool softener twice a day until you are ready to quit.  Good luck and if this does not work you need to see your doctor.

When you are constipated, be careful with taking too much fiber..it can actually bind up the intestines. My wife uses CALM, a magnesium powder you dissolve in water. She uses a huge heaping tsp or more. For me, if I take even 1/2 tsp, it goes right through me.
Staying hydrated, eating soups with lots of veges in it can help too.
Call around and find a good colonic person. It may take several visits, but is well worth it.

Try to talk to your husband - I know it isn't easy but I'm sure if he knew just how scared and uncomfortable you were he would want to do something about it.  You told him about your addiction and that was a really brave thing to do - this is not your fault that you're in pain now - try to remember that.  It is the sub messing with your body and you need medical attention - sooner than later if nothing is happening.

I'm sure your husband would be wondering. "why didn't she TELL me???" if something horribel were to happen.  Please tell him - your doing all you can to help yourself, it's just plain cruel that you now have to go through this - and alone.  NO, that's not right.

By the way, my boyfriend is a hypochondriac (spelling?) and is ALWAYS at the doctor's office!!  I just laugh and try not to get too serious about it.  Not that it's funny, but it isn't the end of the world either.  I'd sure rather he GO to the doctor instead of NOT.  At least he will always be ahead of the game should he really get ill one day (praying not).  Maybe tell your husband that - :)

Stay hydrated too.  Make sure you are drinking plenty of water.  If nothing happens soon go see a doctor.  Putting other peoples feelings before my own health will get me killed.

I was also gonna suggest miralax but Gnarly beat me to it! I swear he can read minds!! Miralax really does help. It works by sucking water out of your body into your intestines thus causing a looser stool and bowel movement. It's kinda expensive but you can get the off brand label that is exactly the same thing.
How much fiber are you taking? When I was once constipated my doctor recommended fiber but said to take triple the recommended dose two to three times a day. That combined with the miralax worked. I also took twice the recommended dose of miralax after my doctor said it was fine.
I'm guessing your stomach issues are due to the constipation. Boy can it be rough. If you haven't had a bowel movement with the last 5 days I would definitely go get checked out. It can be dangerous especially having diverticulitis.

HI  my wife suffers from this the only thing that wirks for her is mirolax one cap full everyday
2 when it gets really bad but it is the only thing that works you might give it a try.....Gnarly

You need to see a doctor if all of those remedies did nothing. You could have a blocked bowel or something far worse or it could be something minor but you won't know unless you see a doctor for it. I know you are reluctant but you are already in tears over this. Please go to an Urgent care or even the ER if you think you need to.

If nothing is working then all that is left is going to see the doctor.  You cant let this go so the sooner you do the better you will feel........sara

For others who I haven't talk with today I have tried the following with no results

bowel softener
milk magnesia
glycerin suppositories
dulcalox suppositories
added more fiber to diet
home enemas

They are not working period. I am afraid the suboxone is covering some of the pain up that could give me an idea as to why constipation is so bad. I have had 2 bouts of diverticulitis this yr and it can kill you if untreated because colon can bust. I asked pharmacist if the suboxone could mask the pain from that and she said yes, another pharmacist says maybe. I am really on a string here. The suboxone doctor is and medicine is costing about $250 a month already not counting buying blood pressure meds, sugar meds. I want to be well, I cannot afford another test and doctors are good at that. I am still paying off a ultra sound that I had to pay $1400 of that insurance did not pay. I have already paid insurance premium each month also. I am desperate, I don't know if I can go to doctor and pay. But what if somethng bad is wrong. I have a little pain in pit of stomach right below my breastbone the has some light shooting burning feeling. But is the pain worse than that and the suboxone masking it.

i know how you are feeling. my boyfriend is so sick of my doctor appointments and my complaints about my health. everytime i talk about it he just goes silent. he has given me so much support but he wants the old me back and so do i.

i would just be open with him no matter what the reaction may be. not telling him will probably make you feel worse. i wish you luck, i know how you feel.
