Yes he is but that is just a very small piece of the pie. There are hundreds and hundreds of pharmaceutical companies all giving money to doctors when they write a prescription (kick backs), the pharmaceutical companies even give $ to the FDA to push the drugs through so much faster now. (have you noticed how much quicker meds are just poppoing out of (it seems like) nowhere? It used to take a 15 year minimum before the FDA would approve a drug to be put on the market. Now every time you turn around there is a commercial for a new drug " are you tired? are you awake? are you happy? are you sad? does your head hurt?  are you fat? are you thin? are you getting older and noticing signs of aging? do you own a car? then you need to ask your doctor about ..............

Then 6 months later some ambulance chasing attorney's firm has their own commercials if you have taken the drug ......... you could be entitled to a large settlement. This doesn't stop anything, doctors pay through the nose for mal practice insurance for a reason and they make sure they have the best of the best attorneys because it's bound that they'll need it. Scissors are sewn inside of someone after surgery b/c the surgeon has been out drinking or stayed up too late but that surgeon is still on the job. People stroke and or die from benzodiazepine withdrawal b/c their doc takes them off of it c/t and never informs them of the risks, he gets a slap on the hand. This is money that has better protection than the President b/c God forbid that their money stop rolling in. When a patent runs out on a medication the pharmaceutical co. alters it a tad and patents it all over again. Entex is now allegra (guifenessen with sudafed) another brand name is guifenex. Claritin is now clarinex. No one is going to tamper with this. Pharmaceuticals first started and completely funded medical school. And to this day they help support doctors' lifestyles. "I could give my patient elevil b/c it would be better for them, but here's some prozac b/c I need to pay off that new BMW" The pharmaceutical co. "higher ups" could offer meds at much more affordable prices and to people who cannot afford them but Jim just bought a new beach house and a new porsche, and Steve needs to take his wife on that semi annual trip to tahiti and spend a few hundred dollars on dinner every night.

I saw your statement above that "[t]he pharmaceutical companies control everything in medicine here."

Maybe your dad could do something about that.  Didn't you say that he was the CEO of a major pharmaceutical company?

THANK YOU! Somebody else has some common sense! I have always hated that. Throwing 750mg of tylenol into 7.5mg of hydrocodone. Or 325mg tylenol with 10mg hydrocodone in the norcos. Codeine with tylenol has always been the worst for me, codeine alone is fine but mixing tylenol with opiates just doesn't agree with my body and especially with codeine makes me sick.. And the whole reason they do this here is because of its potential for abuse( like that has stopped anyone from abusing them) All of the hospitals use acetaminophen because motrin is harder on the stomach, does no one consider how hard tylenol is on the kidneys and liver?? It's insane. That's why I get a prescription for vicoprofen when I'm in pain, 200mg motrin with 7.5 hydro. and one of those works great! My husband has scripts for darvocet, tylenol4, vicodin-all full of tylenol!! He's has 6 surgeries on his knees and just had surgery on his lower back and when he's in a lot of pain he takes one of my vicoprofen and feels fine. The tyl.4, vicodin, and ultram scripts hardly ever get touched. And the darvocet he takes one pill maybe once or twice a month when the pain is bad. There are actually a lot of people who have a bot so pleasant experience with opiates mixed with acetaminophen and figure they just can't take the meds. Little do they know, until they take the opiate alone, that it was the tylenol mixture making them sick. And here it is almost unheard of, some of the scripts I get b/c my doctors understand that tyl. mixed with an opiate is going to make me sick so I would get a bottle of liquid codeine after a surgery, or liquid hydrocodone with no tylenol, even the vicoprofen many people have never seen. The pharmaceutical companies control everything in medicine here. Whoever puts out the most money is whos drug will be prescribed the most. Silly! but anyway I just saw your post and those are my words exactly, good to see someone can relate.

we dont hav hydro preparations where i live but im sure theyre full of APAP.this stuff is really toxic on the liver.hav u exceeded yr 4gram daily dose.1gram every 4 hours is ok up to 4gms max.i think its crazy that they mix a commonly abused drug with apap.they dont do it here.dope is dope.no apap to worry about.crazy.why cant they just make people take 2 pills.1apap,1hydro,o/c,propoxyphene,woteva.sori,rambling.i just think its a no brainer.harm reduction is wot it should b all about.

nausea is one of the most common side effects of opiates, itching is also a very common side effect. Usually Dr. or pharmacist advises food with your dose of hydrocodone, other than that you could take some medication for nausea like compozine if you have it. Belladonna w/ phenobartitol is what I usually take for nausea or phenergan. If you don't have any scripts then pepto bismol and try to lie down and keep your head as still as possible (standard recommendation for nausea due to opiates)
