I have a question on Soboxone

I have a question on Soboxone

This time around has ben my worse attampt ever in my life to tamper then go cold turkey in my intire 25 years of using vicodins off and on.  Im thinking about seeing a Dr that prescribes Suboxone in my area.  I just want to ask some of you about the program before I call tomorrow.  I only want to be on it for 10 days, like it was originally attanded for detoxing. Just enough to detox actually. Does anyone have a susscess story of taking them short term, whining themselves off and finally becoming drug free.  I guess I just dont want to be a slave to these either and thats what scares me the most.

If I plan on only taking Suboxone for 10 days and see the Dr. once or two, without health insurance what cost am In looking at?  Ive heard anywhere from 500-1000.  I want to start out on 2mg versus 6mgs too.  My withdrawal is of mild to moderate.  Ive been taking (down to 3 1/2 vics per day now)  Does anyone have any feedback for me.

Thanks,

Ellen

Yes, it could be done by only staying on Sub for 10 days but it would need to be a dose of 2 mg or less twice a day to start --- I know what I am talking about here-- this stuff grabbed me so hard and I was on it for 21 days --- didn't get off soon enough and suffered horribly -- much worse than had I just gone off without Sub.  Still need some will power and willing to go through some W/D's --- All the best.  Hope you will stick around and share your experience --- it will help you and others who come after you.  Many come to get help -- a few even stay and help others.

i was on sub long term, so i can't help you with the short term experience.  i have been off of sub for 20 days now and am still going through w/d's.  i have talked to people that used it short term, and they had success in doing so.  i would never personally recommend being on sub longer than the 21 day plan.  i wish i could have been given the option of just going cold turkey off of the percocet.  i believe sub has it's benefits, especially if a person has relapsed, but please trust me, sub is not a "miracle drug" by any means....you may not go through the w/d's right away, but when coming off the sub and you experience the "sub spanking", it truly is a different type of hell.  i am not on here to tell anyone what to do in this situation, i am just sharing my experience.  i wish you the best of luck and best wishes!!  :)

Just another option being that your down to 3-4 vikes a day is to just continue to taper down, or go cold turkey. Either way you do it your looking at basicly a week of withdrawals vs. using sub and potentially making things harder, or just delaying the process. With that said I totally understand if you want to give sub a shot, but it sounds like youve successfully tapered so far, so whats to stop you from continuing down. Whatever you choose, let us know how things go, I wish nothing but the best, good luck and take care!

Ellen I agree with tyson at between 3 and 4 a day I would really try to taper slowely off and forgo the sub ... Can you try cutting out half a pill a week until you are off.

AVIOD the sub if u can, or only get on for the shortest amt of time possible. I have been on it for a year and recently tried to stop. It has BY FAR  the worst W/D of any drug I've ever taking, and I've come off of a lot of different narc's including oxy's. don't get me wrong the sub is very benefical to some people, but it is not the "miracle drug" as others have stated. good luck

My boyfriend was prescribed the subs and he always shared with me (we both had out of control oxy habits) He did not have insurance. His doctor appts were $200 a visit and he went every 2 weeks. Rx were about $100 for 16  8mg pills. I am not a doctor, but in my experince, and in your situation, I would advise not to go on subs. Not to invalidate your gaony and pain coming off vics, but in my experince, vic w/d is very mild compared to sub w/d. good luck and just try to taper!!
