I have an oxycontin defeciency

I am a pretty much lifelong sufferer of pain related to multiple birth defects along my spinal cord.  I've had multiple spinal surgeries. And have a whole crapload of nuts and bolts holding me together. At this point I'm not sure what is causing me pain, my back, or all the stuff in my back. Anyways I have been on 4 40mg oxys a day for about 2 years. My family and I recently moved to the wet green state of WA. The health ins that I've been on for a very long time was not transferable to here. Nor, due to my diabetes am I able to obtain health ins from anywhere but the state. My state physician will not under any circumstances perscribe anything but methadone for me. Methadone was one of the first drugs my drs tried to control my pain. It made me very sick. and caused serious hypotension. So to get back to my question, I have in my possesion 6 oxys. What would be the best way to use these to get off them with the least ammount of discomfort. Is there any minerals or vitamins that would help me in my detoxifying. I'm not quite sure what I will do to control the pain afterwards. But I do know the the least amount of discomfort getting to that decision the better off I will be. I AM SCARED TO DEATH!!!!! Please help

Oh wow you sound like me. I too have had too many spinal surgeries due to a genetic disorder. I have rods and screws too. I also still have bad back pain and am getting the hardware removed and redone again. I feel ya. I also took Methadone at one time because it was the cheapest thing at the time. It did not work that great for my pain but it was all I could afford at the time in college. I will tell you this, I will never touch the stuff again. It was the worse thing to ever come off of. I had the most horrible wd's and I even tapered very slowly. With the oxy's if you can cut down by 20% every day it does make it easier. I do know the wd's from oxy to me was not as bad as hydrocodone. Did not seem to be as intense especially when you taper it. I don't know if that has something to do with a longer half-life or what. You may still have some wd's but they won't be as intense. At least it wasn't for me. I have taken myself off narcs. several times just to see if I still really needed them or if it was in my head that I needed them THAT bad. Of course when you are going through the withdrawals the pain becomes so much worse, especially in your back and the headaches are almost unbearable. If you can talk to a doctor an antianxiety med really helps with the not being able to sit still and feeling like you are gonna crawl out of your skin. Good luck.
